Default Are lorry drivers thick?

It's blowing a gale and you drive a high sided vehicle....what do you do? Knowing the risks involved you:

a) Carry on as normal (rolling up, mobile phone calls, pouring coffee), endangering everyone around you.

b) Stay where you are.

Under todays commercial enviroment, and as most of them are polish anyway, I reckon #1

Went past one today that got high sided over Reddish Vale bridge, and fell over onto a Fiesta. No idea about injuries sustained to drivers, but the Fiesta was well crushed

Went up to Glasgow this time last week and there were 5 trucks turned over at various points on the motorway.

Would not like to be in one when they go over.

I doubt drivers have any choice.
Traffic clerks would be screaming at them if they parked up.
RDCs would be screaming at the traffic clerks.
Distribution firms would be looking at "fines".
Consumers would be screaming at supermarket managers.
The price we pay for our modern "just in time" economy.
Those who profit from it all don't give a monkey's.
Now, if we had a Transport Minister brave enough to stop HGV activity in such conditions.

Any Transport Minister who authorised that would be returned to the back benches very quickly.
It's simple, the cost of the "accidents" is less than the profits made.

Bollox, I took our 27ton HIAB flat bed to get fuel today. Hardly noticed the wind tbh. There are more than 1 type of lorry on the roads. High siders will react totally differently to flatbeds.

Saw a few without curtains on the trailers, cant be that thick, I suggest you go to a truckstop and ask the customers inside in a loud voice the same question !

There are several car drivers who are just as thick....

You are driving behind an articulated lorry in high winds. Do you

a) Drive right behind the lorry, as close as possible to the back of the trailer

b) Appeciate that the lorry may have to slow down and move out to avoid debris, low branches etc and give the lorry plenty of room

Most drivers I saw this evening went for a)

I have an HGV licence, so I suppose that makes me a 'lorry driver'. I have a degree; and considering the f*cking stupid remarks regularly found on ScoobyNet I am confident that Im substantially more intelligent than many of the f*ckwits posting!

I have an HGV licence and a PSV license - but only because the locals didn't understand the British licence categories and just ticked everything on the form when I exchanged my UK docs for Dutch ones

At least I've got something to fall back on if banking goes **** up
