Agree with most camping has it uses e.g. Ts Guarding Hossies, CTs Guarding Bombsites - then its strategy.

The most annoying think is when some T is the last one left on a de_ map and he just sits there hidden in a corner with an awp - making no effort to go find the bomb and plant it. - Thats camping.

Puff creeping round an entire map looking like corporal jones with piles - thats just camp

I enjoy Assault & quite often go on UK2 servers for a splattering.

One of the premises of Assault, like 747, is that you defend your position & stop the CT getting the hossies - that right?

So what does "Anti-Camper" do? Won't let you guard against egress through an entrance, by first putting up a message on the screen, then "hitting" you, then forcibly moving you (costing HP) & after that I don't know. It's also stupid in that it reminds you, you then trot off to another part of the map & stop for a second & it starts to kick you

I can understand where it's coming from but it just means that on maps like Assault & 747 you end up running around, making noise & bumping into people - hardly realistic

I would prefer if something could be done about the blatant cheaters instead of people trying to play the game. It doesn't help the CTs either when you are trying to locate & kill the Ts guarding the area

thought it was a server rcon command that can be set on or off ?

 

I too have experienced this but it only seems to take 2 hp off each time it decides to tell you to 'move along sir'.

I've also seen the one where it displays 'Norman D. Landing is camping, lets hope he learns how to play' to everyone, made me laugh cos it was on assault and I was a T watching the vents and the front door, what do they expect you to do ?

p.s I need to know who I knifed last night whilst sitting on their head on Italy outside the T house so I can remorselessly take the P

 

Well as a T I was on the cases guarding the back door & the bloody thing pushed me off the case - more than 2hp

Found it on 3 UK2 Assault servers last night

 

Looked into this a little while ago. The following is configurable:

1. Time player does not move before labled as a camper.
2. Number of warnings before he is 'slapped'.
3. How hard player is slapped.
4. If repeat offender, kicked!

As I see it, camping is part of CS. T's are there to defend the hostages and not run round looking for CT's. On other maps CT's are there to protect the bomb sites.

 

As I posted seperately. This addition brings nothing to the game. There is enough cheating going on already without the server taking the "P" as well.

I shall leave such servers as soon as I find them and delete them from my favs list.

Are all UK2 like this now?

 

I got accused of camping on Rogue Spear the other night - I had to start stalking or get booted - I booted myself, it p1ssed me right off, thought I was camping like a true camper

 

I noticed last night, that having a low ping seems to **** people off and they were threatneing to boot me. I was a bit dogged, can't help having a fast connection

Puff, did you realy think I was cheating last night, or were you taking the pi$$ Wouldn't know how to cheat eaven if I wanted too

Desperately need help getting MY Mic to work, done the lot, voicetweak (works) enable in the game, bind a key to talk and nothing . ARRR.

Re voice comm. Initially mine didn't work at all. It turned out I needed to buy a more modern Sound Blaster than the ISA 16 bit one I had. Then everything was cured with Sounblaster retail.

Other solutions, if you have a modern s/c are latest drivers, (this has worked on other machines with AC97 on board sound).

I have also seen some people say that if you disable EAX sound and the other thing in Audio config, theirs sprang into life.

What PC/Sound set up do you have.

Oh and silly as it might sound is the mic in the right socket ( I have put it in the wrong one several times as I am too lazy to hoik the PC out and just fiddle round the back!)and switched on (if it has a switch). Mic not muted in windows sound system?

 

Be careful with Vocce - It can lead to long pointless discussions with Kheldar as to who nicked who's kill . and he wonders why he gets lag

 

I haven't come accross this anti-camping thingy yet on uk2 servers, if its true then I totally disagree with it. IMO camping is part of the game, which IMO if you disagree with then go play UT or Quake which is more like "GO, GO, GO" all the time.... No fun for me

We had a nice game of HPB (myself & Merlin = 100) & LPB (Scoobs & DMW = 35 ) & us HPB surprised you guys sometimes

Would've been good if we'd swapped T for CT in Assault as I think it would've been more even.

Thanks for the reply. I know the mic works, and the PC is A Dell precision 420, so the sound card is in built. Its a Chrystal card, and I am running XP. Latest patches and everything. It might be the eax thingy as I know I have that enable, I will switch it off tonight and see what happens.
