Courier/Delivery advice
I'm possibly wanting to send this
from West Yorkshire down to the Surrey area
the dimensions are
(W) 3'6 1/2 Inches (107 cm)
(D) 1' 10 1/2 Inches (57 cm)
(H) 4'2 Inches (127 cm)
How much do you think it will cost? I'm not sure of the weight, possibly 30kg.
any reccomedations as to who to use?
Cheers
Phil

I work for TNT (as a sub contractor) and it's surprising the amount of tvs / plasmas etc that pass through the depot.
I think you'll find that most parcel companies use the weight and size of the parcel to calculate the cost. I'd definately make sure I took out the insurance, as accidents do happen.
I'd use them to send something like that, or use a point to point courier at a cost of around 85 p to £1.40 per mile.

Will either end up:
a) smashed to pieces
b) sitting in some pikeys front room after being 'lost' en route.
Don't do it-petrol to deliver will cost less than a courier. Or meet them half way

at .75p plus vat you're looking at £187 all up. Direct courier is the only way unless you have the original packaging even then I wouldn't trust it. thet 187 will be the best price you get as its dirt cheap depends where he's based he may want more if he's off the route. Owner drivers tend to be out for all they can get

roughly it would be about £187
Owner driver's aren't always out for what they can get he's done jobs for matalan when they've needed a new outdoor neon sign taking down south. ive took the odd job like 2 £20.000 photocopiers to colne and they got there in one piece so we are careful

What he said.
No matter which courier company used there's always the chance of it going missing, less so with dedicated point - point companies/individuals, and equally as much chance of it getting damaged regardless of who is used to ship it.

Overnight companies have at least 8 points of failure - which means people taking responsibility or not as case may be - so there you are more likely to have things lost or damaged.
With a direct courier, it is the same person that picks it up that delivers it. If that courier is insured for Goods In Transit, then you are covered. Sure, **** happens with directs too but so does it happen with your m8 and you doing it on the cheap.
Thing about couriers is that you entrust your goods to "someone" and then have absolutely no idea of where it is until it either does or doesn't turn up. Glad to say that my company have totally bucked that trend
@75p per mile, Steph's dad is very good vfm. Royal Mail Sameday are over £1 per mile and we (London based) are even more ( ). I think we pay our sub-contractors at least 80ppm lol
