pay issue with work
I have worked in bars for a while and know my stuff within the job so i was chuffed to be offered the job of "trainee assistant manager", my new wage (set weekly rate) was a lot more than i was getting for the week payed by the hour, so i was happy and agreed to this.
Anyway long story short my hours have been increasing 30hrs to 70hrs some weeks but my wages have not, I worked out what would be my hourly rate for this week last night £3.63!! is this not illegal?
Also we are now staying open longer till midnight, mysteriously my boss has a new girlfriend so im on most nights hes off is this fair? and i havent had a weekend night off for months.
i worked 8am till 12.30am yesterday as it was his day off.
Surely if its a "training" wage i should have somebody training me??
Sorry its turned into a bit of a rant but i have to be there in an hour (12) till 1am and im getting a bit fed up.
Can anyone recommend a best course of action, i do like my job, im an honest hard worker 110% i just wish this could be reflected!

Doesn't sound fair to me.
Have they put you on a salary that stays the same if you do less than 40hour weeks or more than 40hour weeks or are they just conveniently forgetting to pay you for the hours you worked?
If you have a contract, go through it and see if it mentions anything, possibly go to C.A.B and see what they say, IMO they shouldn't be doing this.

does your contract not state the amount of hours you are required to work per week ?
if it does, then just invoice them for any O/T..
if not then I would tell them to ram it, and seek employment elsewhere

Your boss is a genius for getting someone to do his work for below the minimum wage while he's off poking his bit on the side!
He deserves a big bonus for that swerve

Trust you DCI
Seriously though, DCI has a point, it's not on and most people wouldn't put up with it, so you shouldn't have to either. Needs sorting pronto

Thing is if you just don't bother going in, that wont do you any favours
You *could* turn around and tell him there's a mistake i n the rota (of there is one) and point out you're doing the hours of two people! He should by rights employ someone else if you're overtime is that extreme, even if it's a part timer, it will take the pressure off you

And if he tells you that he can't afford to pay you extra wait till he's off poking his bint then announce to all & sundry that there is now a free bar till 2AM
That'll teach him, and win you a few new friends along the way

just thought i`d update this for those who might be interested.
on friday i quit my job
i feel so damn good yet i feel crap for dropping the gaffer in the **** ,but part of me thinks he deserves it.
basically got absolutely wasted after the thursday night stayed in the pub with some mates till i finally fell asleep on the bed in the pub at 7.30am
my friday shift started at 8.00am
had a very hungover / drunk day at work then quit at the end of my shift
all i can say to peeps is " if your getting the **** deal, you dont have to! walk out and let them find some other mug to do it!"
anyway im just updating and venting so night im sat at home for a change, just think i could be at work now
