anyone suggest a good destination to get married.my first choice was las vegas but currently its 36 hours and 4 flights to get there due to sept.11 im planning going on or around october 2002.any help would be appreciated.

I was in Vegas a couple of weeks after Sept 11th, and it doesn't take 36 hours to get there. You could drive there from LA in about 6 hours.
I wouldn't get married there though. All the brides looked a bit silly running through miles of beeping slot machines in a white dress. I suppose if you stay drunk enough then you wouldn't notice.
I think I'd want somewhere remote meself, beaches, castles etc..

Well I haven't got a Scooby but find the site makes for good reading. I had to reply to this as I got married in Vegas on April 1st this year.

At that Time we flew to LA an then transfered to Vegas, a bit long but well worth it. If you do consider it you need to get a certificate before the wedding from the local council type place(Clark County,Nevada). Once you have this you can virtually turn up anywhere and get married.

There are some seriously grim little chapels but its just a case of scouting around before hand. The chapels all have a variety of different services available depending on the size of your wad. And all the Hotels offer wedding services in their own chapels. Just depends on what you want.

We went for two weeks gambled about $5 and had the best time, it's surprising how much enjoymnt can be had watching ponses loosing blackjack at $500 a hand. We're considering going back next year just for the buffets alone!!

My sister-in-law got married in Florida using Virgin.
It was very, very good and well organised. The guest list was large [over 40 people] but still went very well.
Virgin do not expect such a large party [this was the largest wedding they had organised at the time].

We got married in Antigua a couple of years ago, we did the package with virgin and it was absolutely fabulous the best money you can spend in my opinion a lot better than having a boring old cold uk wedding do

Mine was in Barbados, beautiful place, but I went to a place just outside cancun this year and that was better but youve got to go for the full works 5*+, otherwise you get people trying to sell u stuff on the beach (VERY ANNOYING) if u go for the best you get a full private beach and security to make sure they dont come in.

Michelle thats exactly what I did for my wife, but make sure it lasts more than 3months, ie. make sure you really know the person

Got hitched in Mauritius last year - lovely island, people & hotel. Get yourself some brochures & haggle with the travel agents for a deal. We got upgrades, free nights & discount etc.

The Barbados government almost got voted out of power for suggesting private beaches. They decided against the policy.
One of the worst things happening in the West Indies now are the all inclusive holidays where you stay in the hotel getting drunk on free rum and everything is done for you. You never get to see any of the island unless you are with a tourist group and have no real control over what you do.

Got hitched in Mombasa last year. Coupled it with safari. Highly recommended.
