Ericsson T68 ?

Ericsson phones have always been high quality as they were targeted at the business market [which is why Nokia slaughter them on sales figures].
Nokia are too flimsy for me. But you can get cool graphic text messages and funky choons which is what mobiles are all about

Looking for something to replace my Nokia 7110 .... Anyone got a T68 ? Are they any good ? I was looking at a 8310, but had a play with one today and they feel .. well 'cheap'.

I.ve had my T68 for about a week now,Excellent phone I changed from a 8210, the build quality is much better than nokias and you can put you own picture on the 256 colour screen. I got mine from carphone warehouse, one thing to note though is that if they go wrong after a month they must be sent back to ericsson to fix as the technology is so high they want to check why they go wrong - good aftersales.
The only thing I don't like is that the menus are slow loading between.

had a 8210,flimsey plastic, now have 8850 which is basicly the same phone at twice the price but is solid as a rock with a lurvley blue screen, also bought a siemens sl45 between the two but sold it after three weeks as it was to hard to navigate, used to take 10mins to write a simple text message

I've always prefered the nokia's software to any other. Original 2110 was great - the number of time I dropped it etc and it never stopped working. Later ones seem less robust. At one job we all had std issue 5110 tens - all the screens broke. 6110 was better. Currently have a 7110 - again work phone issue. Must be getting the company a bad name - 50% of the time they cut off the caller when you open it . Its almost std practice to have to dial twice now - the second call works 'cos the stupid cover is open.

Cheers chaps ... 8850's and 90's I looked at, but there is a design fault on the screens ~ my boss is on her 3rd in six months.
The Nokia s/w is the most intuitive .. I also had the 2110 'brick' and 6110 before my current 7110.
I had a chat with the geezer in the vodafone shop today and they will pricematch buzz-mobiles.co.uk @ 139.99 ( display price 179.99 ), so I'll give the T68 a whirl, I think.
dsmith .. I have answered your smoothwall/VPN post .. did it sort it ?

I've always had Nokias but went for a T68 a month ago. Superb. Great 'gixmo' value, not quite as easy to use as the 8210 I had before, but near enough and the massive stand-by time (over 300 hours ) more than makes up for it.

Been reading this thread with interest. I too am thinking of buying the T68. I currently have the T28s.
Does the T68 notify you, when a message you have sent, has been received by the other party?
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Found out today ( when I rung up for a PAC number ) that Orange will be doing the T68 before christmas, and if you suggest that you might be leaving them, then a good deal ( c 50% off ) can be negotiated.
..which was nice ....
So, a T68 on Orange it will be.

Interesting. Just got off the phone with Orange myself.
According to them, there's no launch date for the T68 and no pricing details - did they give you a date and actual prices??
Also, the GPRS launch, due this week, has been delayed and they aren't sure when it will launch (got told '2 weeks' and 'next year' by different people).
So, T68 on Voda/Cellnet then......

Kryten,
Got no firm date , just 'before christmas' . I suggested that they had about a fortnight to pull their collective fingers out. I have the PAC code now, so I can roll at any time now.
I have a mate who works for orange ( in some customer service hell down in Plymouth ) ~ I'll drop him a line and see what the score really is.
