Default whats involved in being a traffic policeman?

Do you have to do all the regular stuff like normal coppers, i.e dealing with scrotebags, or can you just smoke around all day in a big car patronising joe public for driving like nobbers?

whats the money like? and the hours ?

money is rubbish, hours are long, as invariably you have to sit at burtonwood services drinking coffee and eating donuts

you only have to stop people who have mis-spaced registration plates really

Of course I am only kidding.......

I'd do that for a living as long as it involved pulling dodgy looking immigrants to check insurance and middle lane hoggers

Any hideous looking Impreza would get my full attention, for ruining the marque

I would be one if I hadn't allready past the doughnut eating phase

I wouldn't worry about speeders I would just nick all the fcukwit retards that drive round with there front fog lights on and that includes the fcukwit from Newbury in his silver scoob

And chavs on mopeds want knocking off into a ditch IMHO

And the polish they must be fair game also being able to use the PIT maneuver on middle lane hoggers should be a must

Default cops

most of the previous posts would be good if

the goverment stopped putting up poxy cameras and putting wanna be coppers ie speed camera partnerships ect on the road and taking
most off the dedicated traffic cops of the road and putting them on other duties,

survey in mcn a while ago states that some regions have had thier dedicated traffic cops either moved to other duties or thier numbers cut so that they cannot do the job they are supposed to,with lack of resources ect
I for one would rather have more police and less cameras

cameras cannot stop a drunk or dangerous driver
please dont take this the wrong way I aint no cop or anything like that
its just that a camera has no presence a officer in a big f**k off car does
cheers

You need to have done a min of 2 years, but are unlikely to be accepted unless you've done 6 or more - over 10 years is the norm.

The 28k in London (misquoted above) is nearer £36k before any overtime is added.

You're on £28k when you 1st start, before you even hit the streets.

Try www.5ive-0.co.uk theirs plenty on their you could ask FWIW I think they do a good job, and before you all jump and say well they do this and that would you fanacy scraping sombody of a motorway after a serious road smash, and then going to have to tell that persons wife/husnand partner? I myself was the victim of a drunk driver and nearly lost my life and the traffic cops in my opinion did a brilliant job, shame the courts let them and me down
6000 posts wey hey

You would be lucky to get into a Traffic job now anyway, the trend seems to be cut back on Traffic Officers in favour of the Camera

You can all take the p1ss and slate them but I spent a fair bit of time with them and if you fancy holding a 4 yr olds hand as the fire brigage cut him free from his car which his dad has died in, or scrape up some poor blokes arm that has become detatched fromn the rest of him as his motorbike has parked itself inthe side of an old grannies Micra who didnt see him coming and then put it with the rest of the bits on a stretcher then you go for it'
I think the notion that they sit arround all day is fairly accurate though because apart from trundling up and down the M1 for an hour or so we sat in the rest room playing cards and watching SKY but I suppose that depends on the area you are in.
To be fair they do love thier motors and that why they do traffic wouldnt you?? I would do it in a heartbeat if it wasnt a conflict of interest with what I do in other areas of my life!

Unhappy

BBC NEWS | England | Devon | Teenager charged over fatal crash

They also have to attend incidents like this I drove past the aftermath a couple hours after it happened but had no idea it was so horrendous until now.
The 17 year old scumbag had no licence, insurance and never even had any back seats in the car, and was well known to the police .

Even if he does get convicted he will probably be out in 18months

Not all eating doghnuts and drinking coffe.

I thought about it but the RTAs would do my head in.

Still managed to get cop driver training though which was nice.
