does anyone know you toggle between upper an lower case whilst writing a text message?

don't have the model as it's a friends phone and they keep shouting at me!!!!! The star button which my phone uses doesn't work.

Depends on the model I think, but on the ones they used to give me if you pressed and held the letter you were typing for a couple of seconds it would change case...
