Default Wax Jackets

Hopefully moving into my farm next month & quite fancy getting myself a wax jacket ..... more so to be able to hide my shotgun inside.

"Get orf my land"

Anyone on here own one & if so can you recommend ??

Can remember on my dads old farm always having one for the winter but he says he cant remember what kind & were from, no doubt was cheapo's knowing him

I think it's Barbour that are classed as the daddy of waxed jackets.

I remember having one myself some years ago, just be sure to buy some
decent waterproof leggings aswell though, you'll get soaked by the run off
otherwise !!!!

Barbour. A good Thornproof last as long as you do. Ive got an Australian wax jacket which is very good too (my brother lives there). The make is Drizabone (Im not ****ting you!) and theyre excellent too.

As long as you don't look like this guy/it we spotted at Croft racing curcuit last week.

I've got a Barbour jacket for wearing when I ride in pre-65 motorcycle trials.

A nicely worn in second hand one from Ebay. Much tougher than any modern fabrics I can think of.

If i can remember right, the jackets have to be treated with something before the start of winter.

You buy jacket proofing wax and brush it on,. They dont need doing though, even well-used working coats dont need it very often.

oh you have seen it aswell. its a fine line between pleasure and pain. but if you have a hairy chest, then its not advisable!!


anywhere that sells the Barbour jackets, also sell a small tin of wax which re-waterproofs it when they get a little worn

barbour and drizabone both quality coats.

Worthwhile having a look at the Barbour factory shop in South Shields if you are near there or ever go near there

They sell seconds and samples and can be really cheap
