fitting double glazing?
Quick question - is it possible to fit double glazing from the inside of a property? My girlfriend has a flat on the top floor of a block, and to access the outside of her windows would require scaffolding etc. (££££'s I'd imagine!).
If it can be done from the inside, then I think it would be affordable for her (well I ain't paying! )

at a guess...yes....frames go in from the inside, sealing to building is done through the unglazed frame, glass goes in, beading to hold glass is internal anyway.

Cheers guys. She's 4th story, so not really all that high, but I personally wouldn't fancy perching on top of a ladder at that height!
It's to replace manky old wooden framed single glazing, so the whole lot would need to be replaced with UPVC frames, on all three sides of the property.
Chip's idea sounds plausible!

no way i,d lean out of a fourth floor window, to caulk some gaps
and how do propose to do above the window,
Gravity is a pretty effective way of proving we cant float

Me neither, I get dizzy with 2 pairs of socks on
I'd do it with a properly secured harness.
But it's do-able. Above frame done with one foot on inner sill, one foot on outer?

We do this everyday, Take the old window out, if you cannot de-glaze the glass then put some film on the glass and break it out by tapping it all around the edges until it is free. Then put the new window in from the inside, you will need two people to do this safely, pass it all the way through the opening and lift it back in towards you. Then foam around it and then seal it by leaning out of the window, it is not as unsafe as you may think. Then you can glaze it and trim it if nessesary. All new UPVC windows are internally beaded now, it is current building regs.

Cheaper to get some refugee to climb a pole and silcon it all in !!
Makes me laugh when I see the dried foam been used. so many bodge the work and use too much foam to solve the problem, Its like they cant be bothered to do a good job
