In the end I suppose its likely the footage would be leaked anyway, so may as well show it and get it done with.
Hopefully it'll appease the lentil muchers that keep watching the show purely in hope to make a complaint, as it will show that motorsport is dangerous and you could be killed. And will be contrary to the flagrant glorifying of speed which they keep moaning about

If I watch motor racing the last thing I want to see is a crash since I would rather that they drive on the limit but by use of skill keep it all on the road.
Similarly I don't particularly want to see Hammond's crash and would personally prefer that it was not shown for the delectation of those who rather ghoulishly I think take delight in seeing someone get badly injured. That is up to him of course and what they said is no excuse since he can easily see it privately if he wants.
Before you say it of course-I don't have to watch it anyway but I said what I did on a point of principle.

I maintain that Richard Hammond's accident simply wasn't that serious. He got a chipped tooth and bonk on the head, big deal.
Fair play on his recovery but please, less of the hero worship.
Please can I suggest you divert your misplaced worship towards someone who deserves it, like these poor wretches:

I think they'll show it as a "look how good the safety of current race cars etc etc is, or he would have most certainly died"
I think it's a good thing to show

Did you see him or look at his records? How on earth can you know this? When his Doctors said he was (a) lucky to be alive and (b) lucky not to have ended up a cabbage.

one of the sites favorite TV programmes, Top Gear.
Yes, what happened on the M4 was tragic, but it's simply not relevant to this
thread.

Where on earth did you get the idea that people don't feel sorry for others such as the example you gave above.
It looks as though you are purely looking for an excuse to criticise others on Scoobynet for your own rather strange reasons.
Have you heard of the terms "troll", as well as "stalker"?

I can't believe this.
Impressive ? what a stupid word to use when 2 children could have quite easily grown up without a father. I doubt anyone will be scoring his crash on "artistic integrity" but more interested to see how and why we nearly lost a decent bloke. It was a big story and i for one would like to see how it happened as i think we all realise how close we came to losing not only a great presenter but a great show.
As grateful as he is to the rescue team who helped save his life i'm sure a big part of the show will be dedicated to the Ambulance service and those generous people who have now helped buy a second rescue helicopter.
Its a good story with a good ending, how anybody can be negative about it is beyond me.

I Know you're not dull Les, in fact, you present and have presented over the recent years, the MOST balanced responses to threads above anyone else on Scoobynet. You have never risen to baited jibes ,such as have been presented here today, you maintain a very level headed approach to every subject under the (currently infrequent) sun.
Good on ya.

Erm, no!
Les's exploits are nothing short of
The fact he doesnt brag about them and understates the superlatives that he's seen in his life makes it all the more impressive.
Check his post history and you'll know what I'm saying is the truth.
Dull... You utter claxon
astraboy.
