Talking RICHARD HAMMOND will resume filming TOP GEAR in January (07).....

LATEST: British TV presenter RICHARD HAMMOND will resume filming TOP GEAR in January (07), just four months after he suffered a severe brain injury in a 300 mile(483 kilometre)-per-hour jet car crash. The 36-year-old was filming the BBC motoring show when the high speed accident happened last month (SEP06). Television producer ANDY WILMAN says, "We plan to bring Top Gear back in January and the doctor said, 'That's fine - I don't see any problem with that.' "They want him to rest his brain as much as possible until then and not think about work. If he does that doctors are confident he'll be able to appear on the show."

WTF? If I had arguably the best job in the world (for a petrolhead), I would be thinking of nothing BUT getting back to work ASAP.

Reading "The Mirror" interview with Hammond yesterday. He was saying that he couldn't remember what day it was, yet playing "Top Trumps" with his wife Mindy, he could remember every aspect of the Pagani Zonda's statistics.

Made me smile that

yes - the google news page changes frequently. It's disappeared off now, but its in the list of 'show all 125 related stories', in the Entertainment section and Richard Hammond'

The source is here:-

HAMMOND TO MAKE TOP GEAR RETURN IN JANUARY

and just noticed this too:-

Hammond signs £2m golden handcuffs deal to stay at BBC & Top Gear:-

The latter is supposed to be crap - the Beeb yesterday were saying he'd signed it before the crash. BBC NEWS | UK | Top Gear presenter 'nearly died'

I love the way female presenters are adopting the 'talking out of the corner of the mouth like a gimmer' VBH and the Kate Thornton from X factor does it!!

Ive tried it and I cant even speak....I sounded like the elephant man

More inaccurate idle gossip on 'hello' style websites.

The official BBC line is still:

the corporation can not confirm the return of Top Gear or any other future projects

soz...

Thats some classic NL spin from UB there!

How about this:

"Television producer ANDY WILMAN says, "We plan to bring Top Gear back in January and the doctor said, 'That's fine - I don't see any problem with that.' "They want him to rest his brain as much as possible until then and not think about work. If he does that doctors are confident he'll be able to appear on the show."

Seems cut and dried to me.

Sorry to rain on your parade old chap.

Great news to hear he will be back with Top Gear next year. I am glad he is not going to rush it though.

He is a star presenter and I look forward to his return.

A self congratulatory 'celeb goss' website. Hardly an authoritative or even believable place to find such exclusive information.

Who is Andy Wilman anyway? – I thought he was that bloke in Extras. ("Are you havin' a laff??") As a mere 'producer' it would be scarcely up to him to control the BBC's scheduling of programmes anyway. In short, the above is clearly a load of old bollox.

Give it a rest UB, you're just as bad as Labour now

You forgot to put that comment into context with the rest of it - "the corporation can not confirm the return of Top Gear or any other future projects until it had received an update on Hammond's progress."

Andy Willman is the series producer. He's also the editor in chief of Top Gear magazine, and used to present on the show years ago.

You of course, must be extremely well connected in the Beeb to know that the show is axed, even thought its producer and 3 presenters are preparing for its launch in Jan 07.

I simply have the common sense to base my opinion on facts. Whereas you like to cling to straws, based on a heady mix of official BBC Top Gear related spin and 'tittle tattle' found on 'Z list' celeb gossip websites.

The facts are of course that the new series of Top Gear is, and remains, axed by the BBC bosses with no current plans for the show's re-introduction at any point in the future.
