Question should Pitbulls be outlawed?

they are planning to do it in France this year

BBC News | MONITORING | France planning to outlaw pitbulls

i am a dog lover but i honestly do not think that they can make reliable pets. i know that the 'odd' one wouldnt hurt a fly but is it worth taking the risk?

i agree with what the French are planning

waits for it..............

Under the Dangerous Dogs Act introduced by the sensible government that we used to have they were banned.

New Labour chose to water down the legislation under pressure from the fluffy dog lovers at the Kennel Club with the result that small children are still regularily torn apart.

i imagine that people are going to argue that other dogs can be dangerous but the Pit bull is bred for its aggression and if it wants to kill something as small as a child it will.

other such 'dangerous' dogs' can have their aggression channeled into something useful like being a guard dog but the Pit has a one track mind IMHO

the dog groups/lovers are worried that some dogs that are not full Pits might be destroyed instead. i would have thought that any dog that has Pit Bull in its make up is potentially dangerous. i don't see why DNA cant be used to determine what the dog is

Err Pitbulls are already outlawed.

I reckon the news called that dog a pitbull more media hype.

If it turns out to be an American Pitbull, which they seem to think it is, then the uncle will be prosecuted and held responsible for the death because it is an illegal breed.

If your going to outlaw pitbulls you may as well outlaw dogs full stop.

Especially those irritating little yappy things

NO, they should not be outlawed as you would then need to outlaw a number of breeds!!!!

anything bigger than a yorkie can kill a newborn baby blah blah blah

Fine by me. I've always considered dog owners a bit weird - you basically have 2 kinds.

a) The type who lets their dog **** everywhere and leaves it where it is for others to step in.
b) The type who cleans up after their dog.

Type a) are inconsiderate tw@ts wo don't give a fvck about anyone else, and type b) are people who enjoy walking around with a bag of warm faeces in their coat pocket.

Bloody weird either way.

there are not many breeds of dog that can be trained to kill and as the Pit has jaws that lock onto something and cant be relased till the dog is unconcious or dead i think this almost puts them in a class of their own

Nowt like a bag of hot poo to warm my hands in the winter I sometimes secretely hope he`ll do another one when the warmth starts running low on the first lot

Whilst we`re at it, lets ban chavs from breeding. Fair enough, some are harmless, but if the odd one or two can kill, then should we take the risk?

They ARE outlawed you dim witted, attention starved mongo.

Now it's time to also outlaw Staffordshire Bull Terriers and other such dogs that are effectively used as accessories, 'man bags' if you will, flaunted in order to make the owner seem hard in front of his peers.

If the outlaw law is more rigidly imposed, and indeed other dogs deemed to be dangerous are also banned, the owners are going to experience problems expressing themselves as hard. The repercussions (sp?) could be devastating..may as well chop their dicks off too .

like this you mean? (from the link i posted up)

French Agriculture Minister Louis Le Pensec said on Monday that Paris was planning a bill to rid the country of pitbull dogs, France Info radio reported.
The bill would "ban the breeding, sale and importation of pitbull-type dogs so that they die out in France within seven years" , it said.
Current owners would have to register their dogs with the local authorities, make them wear muzzles and have them trained in clubs.

why wasnt it done here? we wouldnt have any Pit Bulls now

They SHOULDN'T be banned. But owners should have to go through an assessment before being allowed to keep/breed them.

its not the owners necessarily, the breed cannot be trusted

there is no valid reason for owning one
