house moves who'd have em?!?

if i buy a house that is just over the stamp duty band (£250k), how much can i get away with paying for extras.
ie. pay £250 for house and £3k for curtains.

i know the official limit is £5K but has anyone ever come to a deal that was for more and if so how did you sort it out???

Tiggs - You can give the seller cash for the curtains if he agrees to sell you the house for 249999.00 It is straight forward as long as you don't need the sale price to be higher for the mortgage. My last set of curtains and a dining room table cost me nearly 20k
