Buying online safe or not??
One of the domains that I own is www.clubshop.co.uk.
There is a large internet company who handle online sales for high street retailers and it appears that they are having problems with there online ordering. They have taken it upon themselves to e-mail the retailers with customers card numbers, addresses and all other information so that the retailers can process their orders with their credit card terminals until the system is back up and running.
Imagine my surprise when I log on this morning to find stacks of valid credit card details in my inbox! The idiots have mailed what should have been ... clubshop@<insert premiership football club here>.co.uk to <insert premier football club name here>@clubshop.co.uk
I ended up receiving the lot

Beggars belief. I would report it. No guessing who has intercepted the email or how the hell the source data finds itself in an email (probably now unencrypted in someones Sent folder)

Yes it does, but will anything get done about it?
I remember at my last company and we registered with the DPR to cover us on all data protection issues and we were told to keep things tight as you could be fined £5K for a minor breach and the DPA were looking for cases where they could use their power.
Fast forward to this year and the banks are blantantly flouting the rules even after warnings, whats happened so far? Not alot!

I was in New York last month, and saw a news item about on-line ordering.
It suggested that as many as 2/3 were not safe, and your credit card information could end up in the wrong hands.
Scary stuff.
