Default what if..???

just a thought i was having as i was driving up the M6 the other day...

what if everyone that was caught speeding, or received a fixed penalty for any other traffic offence insisted on paying their fines to a recognised road safety organisation/initiative rather than into the government coffers where cherie blair can sp*nk (is this better mods?) it on new fish knives...?!

is this feasible...? would there need to be a test case and a ruling...?

remembering that benefiting from the proceeds of crime is an offence - something camera partnerships seem to have overlooked

In the Portuguese freebie newspaper today there was a discussion that fines are going to fund Christmas presents for disadvantaged children.

Takes out onion, starts peeling...

How about people refused to speed for a month and see what the revenue drop is for government/police and see how it cripples them?

fair one, as do i...but thats our money to do with as we please...

isnt it bad enough that the government squander the money we voluntarily, albeit begrudingly, give them...?

anyway, my whole point is would it be feasible to do it...??? (refer to thread starter if wondering wtf my point is...!!!)

This smacks of:

'I refuse to pay child support as the bitch doesn't spend it all on my child'

leading to.....

'I won't pay that bitch anything! if my child needs nappies I'll buy it nappies'

And we all know where that senario leads to

yeah, youre quite right it does, and i know it can be said of a few other situations...fines for other crimes for example, but as this is a motoring forum, and as motorists i think most are in agreement that the government are targetting us because were easy prey, i thought it might be a possible way of making a bit of a stand against...

Instead of everyone stopping speeding for a month what if everyone wrote to the DOT and requested all infomation held on the SPECS database etc to be released to them under the freedom of information act.

That might keep them busy for a week or two.

What you do with your money is your choice... and I suppose the investment in beer will get you a nice belly anyway. Problem is the more money the government has off you the less you have to spend on your beer. We may as well give all our money to Brown and let him give it back to us as vouchers for spending as he approves.

I hate watching this government waste my money (paid in taxation) on projects, experiements, schemes etc that will be of no benefit to me or anyone I care about what so ever.
