Yes, I "acquired" an almost complete discography of Walter Trout, he and his band are really good.
Eric Johnson? Can't say I've heard of him but I will have shortly!

Avoid any live show stuff coming out of Japan as recording is awful.
If you want more info pm me and I will happily dig out a list. But there is some good stuff on You Tube - which I didn't even know was there until a couple of months back so pour out a beer and have a listen.....
FWIW I first came across Roy when he was playing in a rough old club a couple of hours out of Washington DC in the seventies. david

Check out Joe Bonamassa.
He's one of those "SRV is my hero" types but I prefer his playing.
If you can get hold of it check out the Bloodline cd or some of his stuff on you tube
We're of course forgeting the daddy of electric rock/blues guitar - Jimi Hendrix

Great stuff guys, I've found a torrent of stuff out there and the three songs you mention are included David. Cheers!
Joe Bonamassa is a name I've come across whilst reading Classic Rock so that description you gave me Bonehead certainly helps.
Time to use up some more of my bandwidth

Why not try listening to Buddy Guy? He's the man who Stevie Ray Vaughn was most influenced by. I reckon the best album is "A Man and the Blues" originally released on Vanguard.
Other bluesmen include Albert King, Freddie King and of course B B King. There are loads of others. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, a mostly white blues band of the 60s are well worth a listen. East-West is the best album.
And of course you must listen to he 1st 2 albums from the "original" Fleetwood Mac". Peter Green was a genius, before he lost the plot.

SRV - my fave guitarist.
If you want something very like him try his brother Jimmie Vaughan
YouTube - Jimmie Vaughan with the Fabulous thunderbirds 1980
YouTube - Jimmie Vaughan - Can't say No
Or their hero Albert King.

Is there a beginner's CD to Roy Buchanan? I've seen clips of his stuff and he's amazing for sure, but like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani etc, one listen is quite enough for me
Frenchie, if you like Peter Green, you'll love Blues for Greeny by Gary Moore. If you didn't know, he plays it on Greeny's old Gibson that he famously gave to Moore in a rash moment It's a worthy tribute.
My personal favourite is Gary Moore and Still Got the Blues would be one of my desert island discs. (There a superb video of it, too, with BB King.)
Frenchie, can you recommend a Gallagher CD for me? I don't know why I've don't have a single track of his
Richard.
PS Get Blues for Greeny

Lots of great suggestions on this thread and lots of stuff to d/l
Richard -- Irish Tour '74 or Live In Europe spring to mind as well as Tattoo. I've also got a lot of Gary Moore's Blues stuff, really good...I've "acquired" quite a bit of Joe Bonamassa this evening and *great* listening it is too. The Roy Buchanan stuff (over 1 gig's worth, 1971-2001) is just finishing and I'm looking forward to loading up my iPod with that too...
As for Peter Green, if my brother still has my vinyl collection which I left to him when I departed the emerald isle I will be having words with him to get it ripped to mp3 format. Oh well.... Kenny Wayne Shephered does a good version of that!

Bonehead -- I got my hands on a copy of the soundtrack to Joe Bonamassa at Rockpalast and listened to it this morning whilst stuck in a traffic jam....if you haven't already got this you should definitely check it out. I think I'm gonna add this to the list of Christmas presents I'm buying myself and can just see me sitting in front of the telly with a whisky in hand listening to this full blast. It's a cracker so thanks for giving me the heads up on that one.
David, I acquired a collection of Roy Buchanan from 1971-2001 but it's gonna take a while before I listen to it all, first impressions though are really good so thanks for that!

If you're really sad like me look at Roy Buchanan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
PS. What a pleasure to have an interesting troll free thread on SN

The new JJ Cale and Eric Clapton album, The Road to Escondido is really good.
Also recommended are Jeff Beck, Albert King (Born Under a Bad Sign) and Robben Ford and the Blue Line (Handful Of Blues).
Not strictly blues I suppose, but Tommy Bolin (ex Deep Purple) was wonderful, particularly the album Teaser and so are Wishbone Ash (Argus).

Plenty of good name recommendations.
Daryl, thanks for the heads up on Albert King, I wasn't sure which album to pick up...I know what you mean about Tommy Bolin (sadly missed).
John Mayall is as popular as ever I see, and one of these days I'll complete my collection but I'm still a long way off. He has to have been one of the most prolific artists over the last 40 years.
David -- I listened to RB's version of Hey Joe last night on the way home in the car and it sounded really different -- he made that guitar sing

Richard -- thanks in large part to David Lock finally getting me to have a look at YouTube (no use in work as the connection is useless) but you can take a look at some good video clips of the G-man in action -- YouTube, Rory Gallagher: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
