Just cleaned the fridge out !
The smell from the fridge has been getting more oppresive with every passing day, I asked my wife and she said 'Its the Cheese', this turned out to be incorrect as there was everything but any Cheese in there.
I decded to clean it cos it was fairly empty, well free of anything you could reasonbly call food but about a third full, anyway, once I had got rid of the Mouldy stuff, the jars of out of date Gherkins (3 bottles of of the f*ckers, why ?) and the things that can no longer be identified it is empty save for a few Apples, couple of Yoghurts and a Pepperami (these dont have a best before date, they have a half life measured in decades)
The main thing that offended apart from the red, yellow, green and black slurges was the perfectly prevered body of a sizeable slug, I assume it came in on a Lettuce but it turned my stomach, I have been eating all sorts of stuff from in there.
So, go and check your fridges and report back on the earliest item in there, ours was some September 2004 Colmans Mustard which I though had lost something but have been using until recently, I mean you dont need much of it and it says eat within six weeks, nearly three years and I was only half way through it.
My wife has the cheek to say that she is always cleaning the fridge ?

about 2 years ago i had found mouse droppings in the kitchen so i got the pest control guy out and he put some poison down. about a week later there was an awful smell coming out of the fridge. i completely emptied the fridge and cleaned it out thoroughly but the smell was still there. it was a gut turning rotton smell that made you heave when you smelt it. the smell persisted for a few weeks and gradually went away. some months later i was buying a new fridge and pulled the old one out. on the back of the fridge is a metal container that collects the water that drains out from the inside. inside the container were about 4 dead rotted mice. these had stunk the fridge out. apparently the poison that was put down dehydrates the mice while it poisons them so that they dont smell as bad when they are dying. the mice were desperate for water and decided to die in the metal pot of water.
i still shudder when i think of all the food that i ate from the fridge
i would gladly eat out of date mustard after that

You could have done a Baldrick and used it as a moustache to do Charlie Chaplin impressions
