BT Internet - I've jumped ship
#1
I read the previous thread on this and after trying for ages - again !!, to get connected tonight, I've signed up with V21 for £9.99 a month 24/7 access. The service can't be any worse and it's £5 a month cheaper - thanks to whoever it was that highlighted V21, I'll let you know how it compares.
p.s. have been loyal to BT for over a year now but their service is going down the pan.

Suggest you keep V21 quiet. The contention ratio their business model must have, to support that price / month will be large. They are using the same national infrastructure as everyone else (need a BT line i.e. Friaco solution). As the user base grows expect it to get worse.....
But enjoy while it lasts

been with v21 for about 3 months now. service is errmmm 85% reliable. games ping about 20-30 ms higher than BT.
(if you don't want email they do a 24/7 0800 for 7.99!!!)
they buy their allocated ports according to current demand and so claim contention ratios will be maintained. they say they pay BT fixed rate for x amount of ports and so know their fixed cost and then work with that figure.

I've got fed up with dial up, so Openworld ADSL is coming next Monday. As you rightly say, all these people depend on the BT FRIACO back bone, and my current ISP cannot seem to provide a decent service over it at all (they will remain nameless, but do ads on TV with naked people).
