Fancy some Sharia or Jewish law?
It could be a reality, even with UK backing.
Could work well for some things, but how far does it go? I notice they talk about inheritance in on section. So what happens to all the others? We just get stuffed on inheritance tax whilst some do a dodgy deal in their own courts?
I could also see criminals hiding behind this (well, already has happened according to the article)

legal pluralism?
no thanks. this makes me very intemperate.
people who find themselves unable to toe the law of our land for religious, political, cultural or ethnic reasons should put up, shut up or **** off. we have plenty of airports and fares have never been cheaper.
it's not much to ask that people respect the country they adopt as their home without always trying to have their cake and eat it, is it? or is it?
that's if we had a law of our own land. which we don't. an unelected brussels legislature has primacy, as we all know. so, it'll probably happen incrementally on the grounds of human rights, courtesy of our euro-centric, heritage-hating, self-loathing government.

Too right - I'm with Holy Ghost on this one.
If they find the laws of the land in the place that they've chosen as their home unpalatable, they can return from whence they came; preferably in short, sharp jerking movements as described in the anglo-saxon vernacular involving sex and travel.
Bollocks to that!
Cheers

If they want to live by their laws, then let them. But this should be over and above the laws of the country they are living in. Who knows, when they have a legal system that acts as a deterrent, perhaps we can learn something from it.

It's about time all this was put to bed by our Government. If you don't like it here, then go to a country where your laws apply.
Of course our Government would never suggest such a thing, for running the risk of being labled "Racist"

but he feels more bound by the traditional law of his country of birth - Somalia - than he does by the law of England and Wales.
