This may help.
Our daughter is called Amelia, not too common, but not so rare to get pick on for it!

I'm not a fan of funky, modern name with strange spellings. I'm sure it will only make life difficult for them in the future!
I also don't like names that can be either gender, such as Charley/Charlie, Leigh/Lee, Sam, etc.
Having a more interesting name, doesn't make them more interesting! It only means they'll be sick of the phrase "How do you spell that?"

My kids are boys (Andrew & Grant) but if we'd had a girl we were going to call her Stephanie (because we both like the name) Barbara (after my late sister).

My top tip would be DON'T buy too many baby name books. You will spend many hours going through them rarely agreeing on the same name(s).
We both came up with Lola Dixie (not hyphenated) and love it. Stating the obvious here, but make sure you think of how the initials will look and how the name rolls off the tongue. Our surname is Brown, single syllable, so we really needed to have multi-syllable christian name(s).
So there we have it, our liitle angel LOLA DIXIE BROWN.
