Great restaurants and bars in Chinatown?
As the title suggests, can anyone recommend a great restaurant and some bars in London's Chinatown please, a few of us from work are wanting to venture in to town in a couple of weeks time
Oh, and before anyone points me in the direction of google - I am really looking for recommendations please! Thanks for your help

Last time I ate in Chinatown I spent 2 weeks recovering with food poisoning. (And that was supposedly one of the best Chinese restaurants in the country)
Didn't think there were any decent bars in Chinatown, but then Soho is just across the road so I'd go there if I were you.
I can recommend this place

The best places in china town are the no thrills looking cafes in the alleys. Another good indicator is how many chinese are eating there.
I used to eat in the more flash, ducks in the window places on the main streets but found them expensive sh1te. So, walk around, go down the alleys and you will soon see the best places.
Some of these alleys will take you down to Soho, which will offer a totally different type of meal to eat, normally one with hair surrounding it ! hahaah

Mr Kong - do a Google - it's in the narrow street between Gerrard St and Leicester square, or, if money is no object, either Hakkasan or Yauatcha - first one just off Tottenham court road, the other in Soho.

If you're after a decent Chinese, then visit the Kam Fung in Red Lion Street (5 mins to Holborn tube) - it's way better than any restaurant I've been to in Chinatown (and that's almost all of them over the years).

China Town's a bit cack.
Average (at best) food, and a good 30% over the prices of decent, non-CT restaurants.
The Thai place (can't remember name) on Wardour Street is pretty good. But you can't book and have to queue.

Thanks all - I'm starting to think Chinatown maybe isn't where we should head for after all!
I know it's asking the ridiculous, but for some total non-Londeners (3 very northern northerners) and me (a Surrey girl who never ventured to the metropolis) where would you suggest?! We're setting out from Colchester and want to have a great night out - saying goodbye to a couple of colleagues, celebrating another ones birthday, and throw in a Christmas drink or two as well - any ideas?!
Thanks!

Upper St, Islington.
A mile long street with more bars, pubs and restaurants than you'll ever need.
Angel tube for south of the street, Highbury and Islington for the north end.

Lots of chinese eating there and I thought it was very nice, no after effects a week after being there Had the veal in ginger and spring onion it was lovely. Still look a **** trying to eat with chopsticks but im just a country bumpkin on a trip to the big city! Would thoroughly recommend it

Don't know a restaurant but..
I know a fantastic pub called Waxy O'connor.
Its on Wardour street, and its just a door which goes down some steps into a basement. Almost opposite is a bar called Waxy's Little Sister.
Have always had a good time in there
