Talking "A Bridge Too Far" - Top Film

What a classic 'proud to be British' moment, and lets not forget those brave Polish either........

A gritty war film where we weren't all saved by Jon Bon Jovi / the Americans........

Cool

Oh I'm sure the Yanks will re-make it one day, and sure enough, there won't be any British or Polish soldiers in it, and this time they will take the Arnhem bridge.

At least Monty will get off with the biggest mistake of his career.......

Yep, love that film. Anthony Hopkins before he was famous ! Circa 1975

Love the scene where the Gerry walks over the bridge, white flag in hand. In reality the Brits are in dire straights, but a Britsh Para with brolly in hand shouts across "Sorry old chap, we can't accept your surrender - there are just too many of you !" Classic !

Ive been there; and its quite moving I can tell you. When I say that Ive been there, it was to the actual bridge in Arnhem, the film makers used a very similar bridge further downstream because Arnhem had had the **** blown out of it and all of the buildings around the bridge were concrete...

1977

"Gentlemen, this is a story you will tell your grandchildren... and mightily bored they will be too"

Without a doubt one of the best war films ever made
