Swear Filter Abuse
New mesage I've just spotted on top of the screen .... as title.
There are no examples given .. this can make it hard to judge what is acceptable and what is not.
I use 'fooook' sometimes - what is the opinion on that?
What about 'bloody' 'barsteward'?
I have seen '****' which is a word I refuse to use, in any configuration .. acceptable or not?
Can we have some guidance? Or someone may get into trouble when they don't see whats wrong?
Can we assume that ALL swearing is not acceptable? Even 'Bloody'?
What about 'Jesus' and/or 'Christ' ?..... could upset some

No Pete, what Simon refers to is where people use VB formatng code to fool the internal swear filter. When this happens a profanity (f*ck, c*nt or b*stard) is displayed correctly. This can cause a problem with users who are slacking-off work and reading ScoobyNet, if their works swear filter picks up on the profanity.

I have bypassed the swear filter in the past, mainly because other words that are deemed offensive arent in the swear filter
I get scoobynet blocked at some work places I visit because SN now has ad's and it is them that block it (its not all ad's so certain ones must trigger it)
Sometimes its only certain threads that get blocked due to the odd words like warez etc
I really couldnt care less about the swear filter, enough people on here swear in there posts anyway, no one does much about it, and most people couldnt care less either
I do a lot of work in schools and tbh the swearing that goes on on SN is nothing compared to what I hear most days from 11-16 year olds

If you feel you have to swear, there is no point whatsoever in misspelling the words as though it makes it any more acceptable.
It depends on the context of the post of course but offensive use of obscene language does nothing to strengthen an argument.
I don't see that the use of slang words like **** or Arsehole in a non personal manner is that much to worry about when used to underline a point, but if they are being used than the correct spelling might as well be used.

Personally Pete, I find EVERYTHING you say offensive.
You should RTM yourself and have yourself removed from Scoobynet, and back onto your commode
