Quick BUT IMPORTANT iPod Question.....
I'm going to be plugging in a mates iPod to my pc to put some songs on for her. I dont have an iPod but use iTunes to store my music. I've heard horror stories about people losing their entrie music library when plugging in a blank iPod, what do i need to do to avoid this??
If i lost my iTunes Library i would sob for days on end like a little girl...
Thanks

It's never happened to me me either - but one of my mates has had this happen .
Don't have an iPod but it something to do with autosynch or summat . You have to turn it off I think.
Hopefully someone with the definative answer will pitch up .

iPod AutoSync Problem
Looks like it's more a problem if you have an Ipod full of music that you attach to another PC - So your fried could lose any music she has on her iPod - I think ????

it is true...
a) blank ipod plugged into itunes..no problems. It will ask you once installed whether you want to autosync..say no
b) ipod full of music plugged into other persons pc with itunes installed.
it will want to autosync as part of the install...so try to avoid.

As Swiss says, make sure when the iPod is plugged in, don't use the "auto-sync" feature, as it will replace whatever is on the iPod with whatever is in your library.

This is one of the complaints people have, as they'd want to go to a new computer and copy the music from their iPod onto the computer, but this could be seen as stealing music as it could be a friends iPod that you have connected. There are applications out there that will allow you to do this, should you want to. I use Podworks and it's very good. I have had instances where my Library was corrupt and I didn't have a backup, but the music was on my iPod, so using Podworks I just copied all the music back into iTunes.
