Any opinions? Nice place to live or is Brighton better?

I know someone who lives there. She likes it. I can ask her, her opinions if you want, but it may be some time, as shes travelling at the mo.

Haywards Heath is (or used to be, I haven't been there for a few years now) quite a nice place. Can't really compare it to Brighton at all, so totally depends on what you're looking for really!

Somewhere that is commutable to London, with reasonable decent neighborhoods to bring a child up in.

Can't be as bad as London, might be working in Worthing, but also as a contractor i have to keep commutable to London because that's where most of the work is.

Worthing itself is ok, and some of the nearby villages (Steyning, Storrington, Pulborough) are really lovely

Haywards Heath is a very good place to bring up a family, also has a decent selection of bars, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities. Brighton & Hove has all that and much more, but also has some crappy areas, such as Moulsecoomb and Whitehawk, that you would want to avoid.

Lewes is also very nice and is convenient for Brighton, Worthing and London. I'm not keen on Worthing itself, always seems a bit boring.

Are you thinking car or train commute?? I'm actually in Storrington (see Lucy's post above) but it's a pretty slow old rail trip to Victoria or London Bridge (from pulborough). And road is not much better. But check with National Rail on-line which will give the timings. I woiuld say Brighton has more of a buzz than HH but if you're now a family I would keep out of a main town and go for a village. I don't think much of Worthing as a place to live. dl

Hmmmmmm. With respect - have you ever stopped there or just passed through?

It wasn't too bad until they all moaned about the traffic. So they built a bypass and no-one goes there anymore Got a good school there though.

Thanks for all your views, 12 posts without someone mentioning chavs so it must be a nice place

The good thing about both Brighton and HH are the trains seem to be fast and frequent (24 hrs too). It's the extra bit to Worthing that adds time on but if I lived in HH I'd probably drive anyway.
