Interesting Comparison
Interesting comparison
If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theatre of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2,112 deaths, it translates into a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
The death from gunshot rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means that a person is about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the U.S. capital (which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation), than in Iraq.
Conclusion: The U.S. should pull out of Washington.

That actually surprised me, I thought the rate in Washington would be higher.
I bet if you do the same calculation for Detroit you'd be into three figures

This post got me thinking.
It's a hoax I think. . .
Original calculations
100000/160000*100 = 62.5%
2112 *0.625 = 1320
1320 / 22 = 60 deaths per month
total friendly troop in Iraq
I'm not sure where the 2112 came from - After looking about the
I make it 1802 over a 24 month period (2004-2005):
1802*0.625= 1126
1126/24 = 47 DMP
I just can't get the Washington DC figures to add up.
If 80.6 (out of 100,000) people die a month due to fire-arms, that's almost a 1% chance you'll die over a one year period due to a gun related crime. Please verify where you got that figure from.

I did read somewhere that one of the most dangerous zip codes (post code) to live in is in the one mile radius of the Whitehouse.
Given the choice I would still rather go there than Iraq
