Average White Band
OK - River Cottage = relatively easy to get a consensus..
How about these lot though....
Average White Band
I know Scottish bands aren't up to much generally (Proclaimers etc... )
But, these guys were a little different. 70s soul/funk pioneers that knocked out a multitude of clever, and complexly crafted albums, executed with an extraordinary precision.
They were also on the 'skagg' which may account for some of the above extraordinary music....
Anyway, does anyone else know their albums? Not just 'pick up the pieces'?

Love the Average White Band.Bought their first album when it was released.
AWB withe Ben E. King is a good album.
The name nearly backfired in the States as some Yanks when hearing them automatically thought they must be a black group with an ironic name & where quite shocked when they saw them in the flesh.

I definitely have 'Shine' and possibly a couple of others from the late '70s (Warmer Communications?) but they're all stored with the rest of my albums in the loft of my parents house 200 miles away so I can't check

Ahhhh....the AWB. Being 18, a helluva lot of my mates take the p!ss out of me for liking these lot. I heard their live album a few years back and have been hooked ever since.
Favourite track?......Gotta be 'Oh Maceo' off the live album. Being a keen sax player myself, i never ever get bored of hearing this. It simply amazes me. If anyone knows of a better sax solo, then please do not hesitate to tell me.
