Euro Millions Lottery
I am confused and need to share this with you..
I get English TV out here in Germany and have seen that the Euro millions jackpot is advertised in the UK as 100 million pounds.
Out here in Europe it is advertised as €190m.
With me so far.
taking a rough conversion rate into consideration of 1.5 euros to the pound this works out at 150 million euros if you claim it in the UK but 190 million euros if you claim it abroad.
So where is the extra 40 million euros going if you are claiming it in the UK??????
Answers on a post card please

The odds on the jackpot are 76,000,000:1 btw.

It's also cheaper to buy a ticket in Europe.

Couple of problems with that.
1) You are not allowed to buy every combination in one go. You would have to fill out tickets for all 76m combinations.
2) Some other git may have the same idea leaving you a min of £26m down.
3) There could be a freak draw with multiple winners (the normal lotto had 33 jackpot winners on a single draw once).

From the official lottery site.
EuroMillions prize structure
The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24. Whilst EuroMillions in the UK is a discrete National Lottery game, all prizes at each level are pooled and shared between the winning players in the participating countries. If no-one matches 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Stars on week 12 of a roll series, the jackpot will roll down to the next winning prize tier of that draw.

Hmm, there must be a new way of working out probabilities these days - perhaps my way is too old fashioned and less flattering.
Let Jasey carry on with his loan then.
AS for the missing 40 mil Euro - National Lottery claim that Euromillions is a "discrete National Lottery game" ie not linked exactly with the European version or its prize fund, so they can siphon off what they like.
I hope (naively) that this money is going to charity.
