Wife is owed 28K! but when will she see it?
When my wife split with her previous partner, he did not pay her all she was entitled to.
Not wanting to f*ck him over, and bearing in mind he did not want to leave the house at that point, the solicitor drew up an agreement whereby she now has a £28K charge on the property.
Unfortunately they did not put a time scale on this agreement, but there was a verbal amicable agreement that he would selling the house etc. within 3 years when he has got his life sorted.
There was also no interest on the agreement, so the 28K is effectively loosing value anyway for her.
This was 4 years ago now, and she has recently contacted him about it and he does not want to play ball at all. Says she will not get a penny until he dies.
I know it has nothing to do with it, but he is a single man in a 400K 4 bed house and he has numerous other properties he rents out.
She is still waiting for some answers from the solicitors, but i would be very interested in any ways around this.
Sensible answers if possible. Violence not an option, bit of pressure is fine though, but totally legit and legal preferred!

If she signed an agreement saying she gets 28k when the house is sold, then that is exactly what that should mean. Sorry to be harsh but she probably played right into his hands by only having a verbal 'agreement' about selling in 3 years. I would say she is fooked.
chop
Ps to me sounds like a sensible bloke who ain't going to get fooked over by an ex partner like many do. Not that helps your situation.

Yep, she had legal advice at the time and still decided that was the best course of action "she made her bed..." etc.
She'll get her £28K in another 30 years, by which time it will be worth all of about £3.87...... trouble is if she walks out on you it's very unlikely you'll get the same 'seperation' deal now as she's now wise to it
