Default Got your poppy yet or don't care?

I have.Wife insists on getting her poppy from an old serviceman.

Not that those sevicemen probably aren't thinking 'I went through all that and had friends killed for the lovely liberal obnoxious society that 60 years has produced' maybe.....

Thank you to all of them here and gone.Apologies for the state of the country and its occupants.

Brings a lump to my throat at this time of year Don't know if many feel the same

Cool

I haven't, and I proably won't. I do however have a great respect for all those who fought and fell in service, I just don't feel I need to be told to remember them.

I doubt they fought and thought "oh this will make Britain a better place in 60 years" though. They had to fight to survive, indeed they were conscripted, it's not as if they all marched off singing like they did on 1914. Still a great price to pay for freedom though.

I kept last year's poppy in my drawer, so I've just got that one out again.

Only joking, I bought mine this morning!

As Wurzel says, we can't get them over here, and to add insult, the official start of the Karnival season in Germany is 11.11am on November 11th.

Not strictly true. For example, my grandfather volunteered.

Reminds me of a hotel I stayed at in Dusseldorf a couple of years ago. I don't think it had been decorated since 1945 and the desk clerk was hilarious. He had greased back hair and seemed to be looking at everyone with suspicion.

At one point I swore he was going to say,

<stereotypical German accent on>

Your papers please!

I plan on getting one as soon as I see someone selling them.

I put in a £1 coin for one.

I expect they'll be banned in many offices for being un-PC

Dont want 'that' lot getting offended, kicking off and burning flags and beheading people etc, so wont risk wearing one.

Havent seen any for sale anyway tbh...

Yep. The family all get them, lose them and get more, each year.

I'm positively looking forward to being told I can't wear one at work as it isn't PC - you'll see me in the papers shortly afterwards...

If someone told me that I couldn't wear one if the office (if I could get one) I'd stick the barrel of my Luger in his eye and pull ze trigger
