Is it time we altered our clocks to match Europe?
As per title, really. Apparently, we could save around 150 lives per year by having lighter nights, and also stop around 450 accidents.
We'd also have the same banking hours as Europe, so avoiding the two hours we now have per day when either we, or they are closed.
It seems to be the Scottish mafia once again standing in the way.

As a Scot I'm quite happy to keep it as it is. Which part of Europe are we meant to match with??
And less of the racial stuff or I'll send round Fat Tony

May be my brain doesn't work on a Monday morning but where's the obvious option of just leaving them one hour forward like in the summer?

I couldn't really care what they do with the clocks TBH. In another week or two and it will be dark in the morning when I go to work and dark in the evening when I leave work... c'est la vie

i must admit, Sunday just gone, the clock change really benefited me,
i knew everybody would technically be up early as there bodies would be used to the old time.
sure enough i drove to the carwash at 9am and found people queuing up outside waiting for me
nice reasonable day for the time of year yesterday (164 cars)

Who want's the extra daylight at the start of the day, I'd rather have it in the evening. Hate it when it gets dark around 4pm!

The poll is missing an option to stay on GMT all year round.
I also like the thought of taking away the glee that some police forces get for making sure nightclubs shut an hour early in spring, when the clocks go forward, whilst denying them and extra hour in autumn when they go back.
It is also a bummer when you get guard in the military around the time when the clock goes back and you get to do an extra hour.

If it was left on GMT, wouldn't we have less accidents in the lighter mornings? Why are we more likely to have accidents in the dark anyway. I think that is a bit of propaganda.

Don't ******* think so. It's called Greenwich Mean Time because Greenwich is in England and is the central reference point for all the other timezones used across the world! How great would that be if we the keepers of GMT didn't even use it
Whatever next, you'll be wanting us to adopt the Euro next. We didn't win two world wars for nowt you know.

NO! leave our bloody time alone, I say.
We are an Island race why bother "fitting in" with those euro buggers.
It's not as though anyone in the UK is ever going to decide they suddenly fancy a drink at the local pub and then want their Spain dwelling chum to meet them at the pub at 7.30
Keep johnny foreigners clocks at bay and all that, what!?

We could stay with GMT and work the same hours as Europe and have the lighter evenings.
All we need to do is work the summer hours ie. 9-5 BST which is 8-4 GMT. If we work 8-4 GMT all yeat round we won't have the bother of having to change clocks, we would have the lighter evenings year round and be on the same time zone as Europe in the summers.
We should be proud of GMT, it is also Universal time for the world, used by people like astronomers etc, even NASA use Universal time to avoid confusing with several time zones in the USA.
I have ancestors from Scotland but Scotland now has its' own assembly, so could decide for itself what timezone it wants to be on.

Conversely I have been in nightclubs at this time of year in the past and benefited from 02:00 suddenly becoming 01:00 I think you'll find that's the point where certain police forces attempt to shut clubs. But you'll probably find most managers know that bit of the law far better than your average night duty plod
