Question been offered 15k for cherished plate. advise needed please

a while ago i offered my number plate for sale with a couple of places. ive had an email from newreg.com offering me £15,000. firstly i was asked if i still wanted to sell it and for how much for. i replied that i would be interested in offers over 15k. i then got an email asking if i would accept15k. i could accept this but i am unsure if i should.

if i sell the plate on ebay how much would i have to pay ebay?

i am unsure what way to go with this. can anyone advise me on the best way forward and are there any better places i could auction the plate?
the plate is still on my car

only serious replies please

Hard to see it getting £20k

It is certainly worth something.

The real test is try and sell it and see if anyone actually pays up! Get in touch with a few reg companies and say you are selling it for offers over £15k and see who actually pays up.

i remember a program about these companys that offer a price on plates and i recall that the owners never get anything like the price offered when the deal is done..read the smal print very carefully.

was they offering to buy the plate outright of you for 15k or just to sell it on commission with a recommended price of 15k-if they are offering to buy it straight of u for 15k-i would take the money of them as fast as i possibly could-but if they only want to sell it on comission basis-well tbh-15k seems a ridicolous valuation imo.

I had a company offer to sell one of my private plates once on a commision basis and the value they put on it was about 5 times more then it was actually worth at very best-needless to say it didn't sell-if they really believed the value they placed on these plates ask em to buy it direct of u for cash-u soon see them refuse then.

You wouldnt get 1500 let alone 15000 on ebay for that!!

If theyve seriously offered you 15k for that then SELL IT NOW!! Trying to be gready about it by ebaying it will only lose the sale from newreg.com

Cant believe someone is willing to pay 15k for that!

i was thinking of putting it up for 20k on reserve, letting the reg company know, and tell them if it doesnt sell for that on ebay then i will discuss a deal with them. never sold anything this expensive before

Newreg have a bidding system, where by a punter can 'offer' a figure for the registration and then the owner can decline or accept the offer........

Newreg can say it's worth a billion to get you interested & allow them to host your plate, but it will probably be followed by low(ish) offers.......

Hope you make your target price, but as usual it's all a bit of a con
