Default BBC Electric Proms

Went to Zutons and James Brown last night.

Amazing.

Saw the Zutons before they got really big in Bristol, but they are so much tighter today and the riffs on the new album sounded fantastic on the roundhouse's sound system.

James Brown is a personal hero and even though he's 73 and recently recovered from cancer he absolutely rocked. Never seen him live before despite several failed attempts, and this seemed the perfect opportunity. The band were supreme, his vocals were still spot on and the backing singers (and dancers ) added a lot to the performance. Unlike the pointless appearance of the sugababes.

You can see the full gig here shortly: BBC - Electric Proms - Watch and listen online

Just getting ready now for tonights gig, Kasabian and The Guillemots with 100 piece orchestra, which is also going to be special. You can see it on bbc three or live on radio 1 tonight from 9 or view online tomorrow at the link above, or else there is a highlights show Nov. 5th.

No; you think that theyre rubbish. ScoobyNet is full of people who confuse their own personal opinion for an absolute.

Well I'm just about conscious now, what a fantastic evening. The Guillemots did some songs not from their album, and it was excellent and added a nice touch of theatricals to the evening. I am seeing them separately next Friday and definitely forward to seeing them over an extended period, with an audience that has come specifically to see them.

However as a headline act, Kasabian delivered on every level. The crowd were absolutely jumping, chucking water around, singing at the tops of their voices, I swear at one point the roof actually rose a little!

However the most amazing thing of all was, as everybody was leaving and walking down the stairs and Zane and Edith were trying to wrap the live coverage, everyone was singing in unison at the tops of their voices. It was one of those 'you just had to be there' moments. Made every hair on my neck stand on end. Not watched the online coverage yet but I doubt it will show that, if anyon recorded it live on BBC 3 last night and can stick it online please do!

We were stood literally behind the cameras filming Zane and Edith and they just didn't know what to do with themselves because it was live!! BTW Edith looked RUFF!

Spend the rest of the evening partying in what used to be an underground public toilet by Spitalfield market. Very, very odd, but really good. Not sure what time I got home

Was considering going up again tonight and getting tout tickets for the Who, but realistically I don't think my poor body or brain or ears could manage three nights in a row!

All of the coverage is now online at: BBC - Electric Proms - Watch and listen online

The new Damon Albarn collaboration, the good, the bad and the Queen is definitely worth a listen.
