Default THINKING OF MOVING HOUSE BUT WHERE TO?

As the thread suggests

and please dont laugh as this is the wifes grand plan
we pay off our mortgage and buy a bargain property

i reckon if we sell up and move into a property costing 100,000 we will be sorted
so...................... scoobynetters any bargain properties out there
im looking for 3 good sized bedrooms , hopefully a country location as i have 2 dogs.
Plus points are im not bothered about commuting anywhere as I work from home . The only thing i need is a post office nearish and a fast internet connection

I WAIT IN HOPE

HOw about a nice town location smack in the middle of the lakes. Millom in cumbria is a quiet town with 2 post offices 2 miles from sea and a good half hour from the Barrow in furness.

Heres a link

HTH

Oh and an example of a house. Little above budget but still ood value.

Would you not be better off in an expensive house? If prices keep rising, you'll have less assets surely?

Ie:

if your house is worth £200k and it rises 20%, you'll have £40k more assets.
if your house is worth £100k and it rises 20%, you'll have £20k more assets.

Who cares if you want the place to live in?

Its also like saying

if your house is worth £200k and it falls by 20%, you'll have £40k less
if your house is worth £100k and it falls by 20%, you'll have £20k less

I was just pointing out that he'll probably be worse off long term, so if he's doing it to save money it might not be a good idea.

Also if he moves to a cheap area, the chances are that house prices will rise less in the future than where he is at the moment.

Edinburgh. You could buy a shed with a wee garden and stick a tent up on it !

my brother lives about 1 hr away from there so it might be a case of packing up and selling the house and moving there
only hassle is it is very very hot and little babies dont like heat so now may not be the best of times to re locate
flying out in november to sort it all out

if anyones interested i will be renting it out and can provide video clips /pictures/maps etc for the summer season
its 2 bedrooms now but will comfortably sleep 6
has a communal pool servicing just 25 villas (100-200 is the norm) is literally next to a great golf course and is just a 25 min drive from alicante
i will do a scoobynet rate even to astraboy and all my other chums
I might well build another bedroom and extend the upstairs terrace adding a jacuzzi

Scottish property is a ****in nightmare, you'll probably find that house goes for around £120000

They dont underbid in Scotland like they do in England, people who are interested have to put in a closed bid in order to ''win'' the house from other competition!

The usual offers over are normally 25-30% over asking price!

That means you can bid say £120,000 for the house if you really liked it and find that the price is good enough. Later only to learn that there were only 2 offers, 1 of £105000 and your 1 of £120000. Meaning you have just blown £15k up the swanny. (Well £14999 as you could have bid £105,001)

Some houses for instance though and you can put in the offer of £120000 for this house only to be 3rd/4th best bidder!

Its a joke buying property in Scotland with the stupid offers over thing

Well good for you but it still doesnt take the fact away that it is an idiotic system

Much better system seeing a house priced at say £150000, to go in with a bid and haggle and get it for £145k than to overbid leaving you in negative equity.

For instance house is worth £150,000 but you have just bought it for £170,000 ''as you really liked the look of it and didnt want outbidding''

I'd much rather prefer to stick with the english/welsh way of buying a house

Oh and im scottish lol Moved down here 6yrs ago!

Is there such a house for £100,000?

I like your plan though, no mortgage just think you could go on a holiday every month instead.

rma26 maybe you could right a book of fables or lies
you could call it "rma's big book of bollocks "
you could have your semi pro boxing career details
(just how is a boxer semi pro anyway?)
do you have a paid fight then give the money back?
or is it just another downright fib like your 2000,000000 record collection and your 3 cd turntables that you know nothing about , have no pictures of and say that you dont like anyway
you couldnt lie straight in bed ..........
haha you have a problem with the truth , and reality is a stranger to you
oh and you are losing your hair and need to diet you bald fat lieing ****
