Superb, those were the days with the original MG game a PS1 and being up till 3am. That game was so addictive, as were the Tomb Raider games. I loved those aswell!!

The original was awesome. Never bothered with PS2 so can't comment on the sequels, but yes, many a night spent creeping around an Alaskan military facility With the prizes for unlimited ammo and invisibility I can complete it in under 3 hours now, but I believe I once read that the world record with no assistance is about 1hr9m Took me about 2 weeks the first time

That quick

IIRC I think it took me about 2 month to complete MGS2, only playing on sunday afternoons though.

Only with the invisiblity and unlimited ammo. Once you know exactly where you need to go to trigger each phase you stop aimlessly searching every room and collecting every last item. You also develop good quick techniques for disposing of the boss's which initially seem difficult and intimidating. I spent a couple of hours a night on it, getting stuck and then going to the more experienced blokes at work for the solution to each level until I finally skidoo'd into the sunset

Yep, much preferred the Metal Gear Awesome version:

Col: "Yo snake, check it, go sneak that sh*t!"
Snake: "ok"
