Bl**dy NEFF oven !

Bl**dy NEFF oven !
The other evening the element in the fan oven (part of a double oven) decided to fail. As soon as I saw the sparks and yellow glow through the oven door I switched it off.
Yesterday I went out to a spares place and got a replacement element.
Then I went out again to get the correct size of Torx bit to take the cover off.
Then I took the cover off, unhitched the dead element and fitted the new one.
Powered it up. Nada. Zip. Nothing.
Took the element out again, noticed that in pulling the connectors through the little slot it tends to dislodge one of the wires. Aha !
Spend a while with a pencil and my little finger trying to determine whether there was in fact an extra wire that hadn't pulled through the slot.
Put it back together. Nothing. Turned selector to 'fan' and powered it up from the wall switch - this time there is a very brief flash from the oven light. Nothing else.
Top oven and its light both work fine. Spent some time measuring voltages at various points in the system.
Gave up and called out the service guy.
Service guy arrived and spent some time measuring voltages at various points in the system. Took element out. Put it back in. More measuring.
All this time the clock is flashing, since it has been powered off.
Service guy presses the 'clock set' button and the whole oven springs to life. 'Ah yes, on these the fan oven controller won't operate until the clock has been set' he says.
£45 plus vat (for the half hour) is a painful and frustrating cost for having someone set the clock for me...

Yes you have to press the hand symbol before it'll work.
Just like the Creda Ovens...apart from the Neff is by far more reliable.
I should know, seeing we have a powercut every month

I was going to say we must have had power cuts in the time we've had it, but then I realised that after a power outage the first thing I tend to do is set the clock...

I gave up setting the clock, that's what I know Everytime I set it, the power goes off again. Same with the video, timeclocks etc.
Highly annoying, despite complaints to the power company
