Our Neff double oven stopped heating on "Fan oven" setting yesterday.
This morning I rang Neff for a service call.
It was routed through their sister company BSH Appliance Care Ltd. who calmly told me it was going to cost me £49.95 for the service call which includes the first 12 minutes of any service, and £3.95 for each 6 minutes thereafter

Since it's a built-in oven, an hour's work is not an unlikely scenario, at a cost of nearly £90

I declined.

I'm getting a local guy tomorrow at £15 for the call-out, and parts on top.

Sounds like the heater element: £30-50 in parts (incase you need to know)

£15 call out is a pretty cheap IMO

At least they broke it down into 6 minute intervals.

That way you avoid the 31 minutes of work and getting charged for 1 hours work!

Oven cleaner eats through the element at the back - eventually shorts out. You need to cover the hole at the back of the oven when cleaning it.

Happened to us .. 2 days after we moved in and a week before we moved out ( 3 years later ).

Seriously, could it still be the element, when it works perfectly on any other setting than "Fan Oven"??

Just used them to replace a fan motor bearing & bulb, they are out to see me again next week to replace the other bearing!
