Hello everybody,

I have a problem with my flight simulator. It is the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002. It was working fine, then today, when I tried to open the simulator again, a message came up after loading, which read,

"! Beta time period has now expired. Flight Simulator 2002 will now abort",

leaving me with only a close option. I removed the program and re installed it 3 times, but the same thing comes up. Any ideas?

As usual, any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Hi Si,

It's original. Comes with 3 CDs for install and a product number too.

Si,

Just tried it. Made no difference unfortunately. I might have to go back to the shop I bought it from.

Thanks for the suggestions m8.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

I liked it. I was just getting used to the little Cessna to begin with. I was still doing the lessons. I seemed to master the take offs and landings and turns and also the stalls and was going to learn about the VORs next, when I came up against this problem.

I had also managed a flight in the Cessna from the Island of Samos to Athens. Took about an hour and fifteen minutes, but managed to find my way to the airport in Athens, which I thought was very surprising. I did not expect it. I had flown that route a few times in real life as a passenger and I tell you what, the scenery in the simulator was exactly the same as the real flight. Every single island you pass in the real world, you also pass in the simulator.

It also has 747 jumbos and also the 737 airbus too, plus heaps of different aeroplanes. Once you get into it you want more, I found. A bit like Scoobynet when you can't get off.

Did you enter the serial no. in correctly when installing ?

If you didn't I guess it flicked itself into 30 day Trial mode.

Maybe's a reinstall with the correct serial no. will solve it.

Hi -DV,

You could be right m8, but I took it back to the shop and they are going to replace it with another on Monday. They said that the copy I had, may have been faulty and may have just been one of those things. I'll make sure I type the numbers in correctly, when I get the new copy. I wish I still had it so I could give it a go though.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

I heard that Microsoft were VERY embarrasssed as the flight similator was alledged to have been used by people of, shall we say, "Muslim Tendencies". Microsoft are now thinking of making it less realistic to prevent this in future?

Very strange especially as you don't have to type in the serial code the install program extracts this direct from the CD on install! Have you tried asking MS themselves?

And to those who were asking how good it was 100x better than 2000 is the answer and I only have a PIII 500

Even has working realistic ATC (makes me feel almost at home or is that work)

And suppose I better point it out before someone else does in a less subtle way, the 737 is made by boeing not airbus.

Can't find a reply with quote button...

That's like blaming the companies that made box-cutters for making them so sharp. What next? Make maps less accurate in case anyone can actually use them to find things???? Hitting one the two tallest buildings in New York with a passenger jet doesn't require a great deal of skill.

Hi Richard,

I got it from a small computer shop in my Town here in Greece. They only had the one copy and the new one has not come yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

Steve, took note, with the Boeing bit.

Also, I thought I could not remember typing in any numbers. I thought I must have missed that bit when DV mentioned it. I remember now, a whole lot of numbers that had come up, very small, with a message saying that you must quote the serial number when you register on their web site.

Why did it go into expiry then?

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Cool

Right, all sorted now. Turned out that somehow a beta test version of the game got sold to me, according to the shop, (info from microsoft). They replaced it with the proper version now and it's running sweet.

Si, (Mr Cookie) was correct with his assumption. Thanks m8 and thanks to all for your help.

Cheers,

Wrexy.
