Scoobynet Share Club?

Scoobynet Share Club?
Anybody interested in this? Idea is we get 5 ish people together and then each of us has to propose a share each week/month to buy. We all vote on the proposals to see which one we add/sell to/from the portfolio.
Its a 'fantasy' club and we pretend we are investing say £1k a month and we track the portfolio to see how it does. If it does well then we can as individuals invest in the shares via our own share dealing accounts. All the 'meetings' will be held here on the bbs so anyone can benefit if the portfolio does well or have a good laugh if it doesn't!
It would be good to have people from a range of different backgrounds especially those skilled at company/financial analysis ie PE ratios/ NAVs etc.
Good idea or pure muppetry?

I think it's a brilliant idea It doesn't involve real money and losses but could give you quite a buzz if you got it right.
Bit like Fantasy Football.............and you might actually learn something along the way

Yes, I'll play along. I "try" to make a living trading my own portfolio. I have had months where my profit has been astronomical, but my main problem is when to get out, which I haven't perfected yet!

Think its a good idea. I'm a bit of a wally when it comes to shares as I tend to buy and hold for far too long. Would be interested in watching what's happening.
If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing then I'm No 1 on the FBI Most Wanted list when it comes to shares.

the latter has a reasonably interesting free service, which advises on every share, although I do not base my trades on this advice, it can be useful to have a look at their theories!

In case every one is a bit shy I've already picked my first proposal.
Are we going to pick a day to do this and finalise who is involved.
One day Rodney - we'll be millionaires
Cheers

I'm going to need a few days before I can start adding proposals as I haven't traded in a few weeks........ had a long holiday.........
Do we need to limit the number of people? We could appoint someone to keep an excel spreadsheet of the tips and following movements, but don't see any reason to keeping it limited.........
I assume we will publish reasons and thoughts behind the tips?

Hi.
I think it would be reasonable to limit it to the number of people who have expressed an interest so far, with the exception of Gene who I think is just having a giggle. So thats
Me
Alas
2000T
Jaydee
KingRA
Demondave
Shaggy
Suresh
8 people in total.
We do need a strategy as Topb says. How about two portfolios ie one high risk speculative and one for long term growth?
We should also decide how many diiferent companies we hold in each portfolio, ie maybe 10 in the long term one, how many for the speculative one?
Perhaps we should all come back with 2 potential shares ie 16 in total on which we'll vote and pick the 10 we agree on.
How do we decide when to sell? Do we have to sell /add every month? I'm not quite sure! I'll speak to a friend of mine this weekend who is in a real share club and see how it works!
In the mean time lets start investigating two shares each with a view to putting our ideas to the vote on Wednesday.
Should we have a Chairman who has the casting vote? If so could someone please volunteer, preferably someone with some experience of trading.
Does anyone have access to stock picking 'screens' ie so we can try and pick out undervalued shares or shares that have increased their dividends etc
