Exclamation Ebay scam?

Possibly SIAL but I received this in my spam folder yesterday:

eBay International AG sent this message.
SB NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension - Shill Bidding

Hello,

This email is to notify you that your account has been suspended for a minimum of 7 days due to violation of our Shill Bidding Policy.

Shill Bidding is bidding that artificially increases an item's price or apparent desirability. Shill Bidding is prohibited on eBay. Information on eBay's Shill Bidding Policy can be found at:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/...l-bidding.html

Your account has been found to be involved in Shill Bidding with the following associated accounts:naw017

You are prohibited from using eBay in any way (including use of other existing accounts or registering new accounts) during your suspension.

Any auctions you currently have open have been cancelled. Please note that any fees incurred for these auctions will not be credited back to your account.

Your account will remain suspended for a minimum of 7 days, after which time you may appeal the suspension by replying to this email.

If you want to unsuspend your account now click the link below:

http://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI....gnIn&Unsuspend

Regards,

SafeHarbor Department
eBay, Inc.

The link takes you to a sign in with password page, as you'd do when signing in on Ebay. I haven't signed in on this.

I've never heard of naw017 nor have I participated in any shill bidding. My account seems to be running ok on Ebay, and haven't received anything in 'my message' box. I can sign in ok and bid etc ok on the 'official' ebay pages.

Scam or no scam? I seen many hijacked accounts on Ebay recently.

Good job I didn't put in username and password. It's a very convincing email with all the logos etc.

If they are the links in the email then they appear genuine, and the wording seems correct.

Easiest way to check is to log in to ebay like you usually would- ie not via the link in the email, and see if you can use the account.

Curiously user naw017 doesn't have anything for sale, nor do they appear to have listed anything within the last 30 days.

Its SO EASY to check whether these are valid simply by logging in properly and seeing if you have any messages. Just Forward it to spam@ebay.co.uk if you want to be reassured.

"Paypal" have a convincing spam doing the rounds at the moment complete with logos and correct spelling headed "How to spot fake e-mails"

There is nothing to stop you from writing this king of email and having the link take you to the fake eBay site....then have all the logos etc on the fake site link you into the real one. It all just adds to the illusion
