Exclamation Buying signed memorabilia.....avoiding fakes.

Hi,

I'd like to buy something for my computer/hi-fi room and was thinking of a signed Beckham England shirt. Does anyone know of any reputable places to buy one. Its just that adding a signature to a shirt must be the easiest thing to do if you want to rip someone off.

There are lots of reputable traders on eBay that offer this sort of service, with certificates of authenticity. Or you could google for a memorabilia specialist. Or the best way would be to pop to Madrid for a week and hang around the training ground.......

I actually bought my son a signed Claudio Reyna World Cup shirt, with a certificate of authenticity. I did this through Sunderland AFC, direct. The club was running an auction. So it may be worth your while to contact the Clubs direct

I've got a signed pair of underpants as worn by the great ScoobyNetter pslewis .. I can guarantee that they are genuine and that pslewis actually wore them.

They will remain unwashed, which is how they should be, to you - £99!!

They are unique - will be number 001 out of an anticipated 'run' of 100!!

Good idea, but for an England shirt it may not be that easy.

Where does your son keep it,on the wall? Why Claudio Reyna anyway?

He supports Sunderland Bless him, and Reyna played for them.
He has it framed on his bedroom wall. Claudio only signed 10 of these World Cup shirts so he was chuffed to bits to get one.

I have quite a bit of signed memorobilia, my pride and joy being a signed beckham shirt that he did outside old trafford for me before the Greece game when he scored that amazing freekick to ensure we qualified for the world cup.

It the biggest beckham signature I have ever seen, make me an offer you never know for the right money I might part with it

You have to be very careful on ebay as the certificates of authenticity mean absolutely bugger all really. I suppose you might get your money back if you could definately prove it was a fake, not easy to do.

I now only buy off sources I have got to know and I know they are the real deal.

Use trusted sellers with good feedback and a record of selling signed items, that is probably your best bet.

There was a company couple of years ago on the net I think it was online authentics dotcom where you could send a picture of your signature and they would give a percentage of how likely it is to be real. I have never used it though.

Good luck

Agree, but considering they swap at the end of the match i doubt you'd get hold of one. Actually i'd rather have a worn, non signed one.

The shop in Nottingham is pretty good,is it reputable though?

Thats the one.

Having never bought anything from there, only been in browsing a few times, I believe they are reputable. And as said previously, they should offer a certificate of authenticity with a life time guarantee and no quibble refund if proved to be fake.
