Thumbs up LIDLs

I think LIDLs are great .... high quality and very low prices .... the chavs and pikeys will have to share them now as they are opening stores all over.

A job advert in our paper for a Manager at a LIDLs store - they are paying their Managers the National Average Wage of £36,000 a year - which I think they should be applauded for!

Seems they look after their Customers AND their Staff then?

Carry on LIDL!!!

Why have you posted what has to be almost a carbon copy of a post from about six months ago? Running out of imaginative new ways to stir it up?

While I'll agree Lidl is cheap, I'd hardly call their stuff quality. I've bought the odd thing from them that I was only planning on using once or twice and so didn't see the point of paying out for a better quality item. The Lidl item survived the first use but rarely the second!

Some LIDL stuff is better quality than that you get from crap supermarkets like Sainsbury's, TESCO etc etc.
Thinking primarily of the more unusual product lines like the Argentine sourced meat.
If it wasn't for the fact there is always a huge queue whenever I've been in the stores I'd probably shop there more often. As it is I tend to stick with Waitrose and Booth's when I'm in the UK.

Shops like Asda, tesco etc seem to be as full of scumbags as LIDL as far as I can see.

That's actually the most annoying thing, they send out leaflets offering amazing computer deals, T.V.'s, HiFi etc, then they sell out in the first hour of opening after risking parking your car in the worst areas of the city while you wait.

Average national salary is appx £23k according to the annual survey of hours and earnings...
Come on PSL adding 50% to the national average to make more of this bbs feel bad about their wage is stooping to an incredible trolling low
Anyhoo, IMHO Lidl is a poor mans Aldi with generally ploppy merchandise.
The managers get paid that much because they tend to do 16hour days 6 days a week, hence a massive turnover of staff with a silly salary to hook them in and keep them until they burn out and turn into a mass of shaking wibbleness

ALDI is good as well, although from what I've seen the queues tend to be even longer.

Keeps the prices down I suppose the only problem is that my time is worth more than the meagre savings on offer so unless it's something I really want I don't bother.

I have a theory that many wealthy people choose to use LIDL and ALDI because of the high quality/low cost of some of their products.

theres a Lidl store near where i work most days and its suprising to see how many well dressed ladies come out of there with marks and Specer or Waitrose carrier bags and continue over to a big merc or w.h.y and drive off

The well heeled are tuning in to the value of LIDLs ......

I just thought it good that they offer the average wage of £36k to their managers ......

They could do with having more tills open however!

I shopped at ALDI when I moved up to Cardiff because I was skint whilst paying double rent (Cardiff and Plymouth whilst the GF saw out her notice). I thought it was very good, hactually. The feta cheese was superb and half the price of Waitrose (where I like to shop because it's a pleasant experience), the meats were excellent as was the muesli. The bin-liners were ****.

The highlight was the choice between the cash and card tills. I breezed past a dozen or so people in the cash queue, all of whom regarded me with deference as I tendered my plastic, complete with cheque guarantee.

£36,000 is that all?

I manage a McDonalds franchise and the starting salary is £150,000pa plus company car and bonus.

The only downside is they insist on having a chavvy company cars like the Subaru Impreza

I know a manager. Someone somewhere may earn that as a manager but he is on about 23k and doesn't know any other managers that earn anything like that. Say's they are a crap company to work for. Never have enough staff on, that's why they only have 2 tills operating. Works all the time, does all the **** jobs and hates working there.. Not a happy man...

I was getting our shopping out of the back of the 'Ocado' van and a neighbour goes past and say' Hmm, Waitrose eh, I rmeember when you were on Asda, things must be going well'

I didnt realise Waitrose was considered posh, I am either more surprised anyone would mention it, shopped at Aldi, Netto and Iceland for years when skint, cant bring myself to do it now, and they dont deliver, when our kids were young they used to get ll excited at a packet, box or tube that had English writing, my eldest asked if he could have a drink of Appfelsaft one morning !

Too true, tbh the standard of MILF in Lidl is not that good, you can always tell which are the posh girls in Lidl because a lot of thier tattoos are spelt correctly!

You know, I know and everyone else knows ...... I am FAR from average!!

I actually think it disgraceful than anyone should have to live on £36,000 a year ..... I take my hat off to those who can manage it!

I was once a LIDL slave, sorry store manager

in my day,we only got the paltry sum of 30 grand, and when myself and another manager worked out our wage, after stopage's etc,we were on £4.92 per hour

Yet another post about your supposedly affluence, PSL. Well done, I'm very, very happy for you! Congratulations! I'll be keeping my eye out for the next thread about your apparent status. Whaddya say, two days, three?

I have to say, you suckered a few people in to reading about this before you revealed your intended topic, YOUR WALLET......
