Tom Tom trouble!
had my Tom Tom about 3 or 4 months now and not had any problems with it until last week
Driving up the A1 towards newcastle and it kept telling me to turn right (its dual carriageway) and it was showing that I was not sticking to the road! But today I put in Coleshill and it was showing up as being in London rather than Birmingham which is where it should be.
Is this a fault with the Tom Tom or is it just playing up
Its a 510 BTW

Try a trip and reset, get a paper clip or similar straighten it out and press the reset button located under the rim where it sits on the mounting cradle.

Have you tried their web site. Its the most awful thing to negotiate if you have a problem and want to contact them. Total pants.
Try resetting yours see if that clears it.

There is a Coleshill in London. Mine gives two options when navigating to "town centre". The A1 problem has probably been covered by eldudereno.
The maps are the weakness of all navigation systems with some areas well out of date. There are new maps via Tomtom on the way apparently.

First time it happened it completely threw me and I panicked as I was unsure of where I was actually going.
I have already tried a reset on the Tom Tom but still does nothing.
As for the Coleshill, I was after directions for the local one (in Birmingham) and when navigating to a town it only gives me the one option.
It also takes anything upto 10 mins to find satellites Surely that is not right? this is pretty much anywhere that I turn it on, not just outside my house which could be classed as out in the sticks a bit.

A few minutes for a cold fix is normal. It will be much quicker if you turn it on in the same place it was turned off. This is true for all GPS systems.
Errr - you dont think "being in the sticks" makes any difference to satellites do you ? Kind if the whole point is that there's enough satellites to get global (as in the whole world) coverage.

It will take ages to get a new satellite fix if you are travelling. Stop, or sit on your drive until it has satellite lock.
It will find a satellite in a minute or so stationary, travelling at 50mph in the car, in can take 5 mins or so at least.
