Phil,
Actually, they're about the same height (20ft difference); the difference being that the 1st drop on Sheikra is fully above ground, whereas Oblivion's drop is half underground!

Of course Sheikra has the inversion and the 2nd drop and water splash finale
Oblivion is great though!!
Both pale in comparison to this, so intense it was closed down to be toned down somewhat. When it first opened it had only lapbars!!!!!!!

Are you man enough??

The Aerosmith Rock and Roller Coaster at Disney World - Not the tallest or fastest but the best music
The tallest in Europe - The Mercedes Silver Star at EuropaPark near Strasbourg is the scariest I've ever been on.

I didn't think that much of Oblivian, perhaps it was the hype, but I just got the 'was that it?' feeling
Perhaps it was because I was near the back of the ride

to me the obvlion was only 'ok' over far too quick, and the drop no where near long enough
in fairness it had only been a few weeks previous that I had jumped out of an aeroplane at 13,000 feet

I contemplated this last night, but I just stayed in my seat and ordered a glass of wine.

When I did that jump I still hadnt been on a commercial flght, plane with seats etc, and the 1st time I did was on a 747 to Antigua, and I pretty much spent most of the way there looking out the window with the urge to jump

The Heathrow Express was more likely to cause you to jump, two full trains ready to go, one breaks down so two full trains crammed into one, sorry to anybody on that train, I had been lugging a case on a hot day....

One of the funnest rides I've experienced. Not the tallest or scariest but for general all round experience it was amazing. Did it 5 times in a row! The theming also was second to none! Everyone must try this one......
Tower Of Terror @ Disney MGM In Orlando, Florida
The Incerdible Hulk In Orlando Universal was pretty intense too!!

Point of view footage of Sheikra on here: well worth watching
A few things strike you, just what an effort Alton Towers went to conceal most of Oblivions drop: remember it's only 20ft shorter than Sheikra's and just what an engineering marvel these things are: B&M have surpassed their usual very high standards with Sheikra

That Montu vid brings back some memories...
Did it twice on the trott and ended up throwing up the heavy session from the night before into the potted plants as you get off... had to have a wee rest and a burger & fries before doing the rest...

choker
rita was the first one we went on. Had never been on a ride as such since the corckscrew when i was about 15, rolled up early, saw the boards that said ques for rita @ 0 mins, so headed over. Litterally was 0 mins, just went through the gate and straight on, didn't even see it lauch prior to sitting on it.
**** the ******* bed!! how quick?
I have come to the conclusion that to get the best out of these things its best if you havent really gone on them before
