Help with Fireplace
Hello
We have a fireplace that we have no idea what to do with, at the moment it is a convenient place for the hamster.
As winter is approaching, it would be nice to actually have a fire there.
There is a connection for gas on the right hand side, but I don't really want a pipe going across the stonework for a gas fire. Is it possible to have a self-contained 'real-fire' with a glass cover in the fireplace?
Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks.

Looks far too clean to ever have been a proper fireplace.
Is there a chimney breast at all? Can it be a proper fire at all?
Ppl say that real fires are 'messy', but nothing can beat the snap, crackle, and pop of a real fire. I don't mind emptying ours afterwards. Quite satisfying really. Acts as an extra rubbish bin in the room too
Gas 'real' fires are for lightweights. I'd just sit there worrying about the gas meter ticking round at a furious rate

It's a new house (well, 4 years old now) and yes it is connected to a chimney. I really like real fires, but would prefer one behind glass as I have 2 little children.

I had a real fire, mostly logs, that had a glass front. Still had a kids screen across the front but fantastically efficient and hardly any ash left. Log burning stove I suppose. Quite big though and hamster might get a bit too hot

Get rid of the clock and candlestick.
Also I can never understand why people have pictures of themselves/loved ones who live with them on display. Can't you remember what they look like or just take a sneak peak when they're lolling around on the sofa?
Of course if they're dead or something I understand perfectly but otherwise, why?
