Default Cool house!

This has to be one of the most interesting houses I've seen Imagine the BBQ's at the top of the tower in summer Bo'ness, near Edinburgh

Looks good, and very cheap - are all houses that cheap up your neck of the woods, I thought Edinburgh would be expensive?

It's cheap because it's hard to get the carpets to fit the round rooms

PS Boness is quite a long commute from Edinburgh

Isn't it sealed bids in excess of the £295K....... winner takes all?

No its not! It's 12 miles from the western end of Edinburgh so somone working at say South Gyle buiness park would face a drive of approximately 20-25 minutes each way (accounting for traffic). Someone working in town could drive to South Gyle station and then 5 minutes on train into city centre. 30 minute commute during rush hour is nothing compared to your average English commute

Edinburgh is quite tightly contained by the city bypass and the green belt beyond it. Prices are stupid high within Edinburgh City. There are many small towns and villages within about a 15 miles radius of the outer edge of edinburgh and the price of them seems dependant on their popularity and schooling. Bo'ness as a place is not particularly regarded as an ideal place to raise your new family so is priced accordingly. As a lover of cars I'm certainly thining about moving 10-15 miles out of the city within the next 5 years as you get a lot more house for your money and if I come to have kids and concerns about location, locaiton, location then I can move back

DCI hit it on the head.

It'll probably end up going for 500k+

Interested parties place their bid in envelopes, then whoever bids the most gets the keys. So if you really, really want the house, you may either end up paying way more than you need, or else losing out if you bid in line with the guide price.

Highly unlikely....those heady days are more or less gone. Tend to find the margin will be 10-20% above asking price.

Appreciate that the 'right' property can command more but as a rule of thumb it's as above these days

This has gone on to a house in the Village my mother lives in. House was put on the market at the start of the year (Old Village post office) and needs at least £100k spent on it. Concealed bids above £200k.
It was sold within weeks for what we believe to be £400k. Within a few weeks it was back on the market, as again we belive the winning bidder had found out what the next highest bid was. Obviously it was alot lower than what they bid.
It's now just been sold again for the 3rd time, as the second time went exactly the same as the first time. Second time round, winning bid was £450k.

It's being sold for the family of the relative who owned it. They live in Canada, so have no idea about the Village or the market place. Why not just ask the estate agent what it's really worth, and put it on the market for that amount? It would be sold and they'd get a few hundred thousand quid in the bank for doing nothing. All I can think of is Greed.

That's one of them though, don't you think? A unique property that's not just your standard box. People tend go go mad when unique properties like that come up on the market.
Probably will be sold to a Southerner with more money that sense, to use at his Scotish retreat
