Hey, don't miss Bryson...

I just read the new one 'The life and times of the Thunderbolt kid' (I think thats it), bought it in hardback and read it in two days, real feelgood book about childhood.
The history of almost everything was a bit hard going but worth perservering with, Walk in the wood was probably my favourite, wasnt to keen on his Australian one.
Might bump into him as I am down near the South Bank all week, if its live that is, will keep an eye out for Geography teacher types.

Well done who all who replied, but I have to say you all missed out.
The documentary was pure Bryson set to period visuals and featuring him back home in Des Moines, state capitol of Iowa – aka the back of beyond . Mainly to promote the Thunderbolt Kid but very much about his vision of life in small town America (Anyone read the 'Lost Continent'?) In it Bryson travels back to some of the key locations.
Amazingly – for those who have read A Walk In the Woods – he meets up with the legendary Steven Katz for a chat and cruise around. He looks remarkably well too, compared to how I imagined him.
I've got it on VCD but could convert to a wmv if anyone wants a copy.

We used to fly ove Des Moines on the way to Omaha. We never knew how to pronounce it in a position report and from the replies we got, not too many Americans were sure how to say it either!
