AFAIK No he didn't mate, it's an urban myth, it even says so at the end of the above video (not that'd I'd trust that)

There was a rumour going around a few months back about it, loads of sad people emailed tony the tiger to ask if its true...lol

My God - I feel dizzy after watching that 
Dave - the guy in the 1st series of "The Contender" commited suicide and they still screened it (the series that is, not the suicide)
