Whiplash compensation?
I was hit from behind a few weeks ago while stationary at some traffic lights and as a result suffered whiplash. I went through the usual channels of going to see my GP etc etc.. the other persons insurance company offered my £2100 in compensation. Since I've never been in this situation or been offered compensation I was wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what kind of compensation money you were awarded.
Thanks
Chris

The misses has just been offered £1800 from such an accident 12 months ago resulting in her needing a number of physio sessions. We took it, no quibble, kept telling the solicitors all we wanted back was her excess, anything else is a bonus.

Have you had any sort of physio? And did you have to undergo a medical examination by the insurance company approved doctor?

Hmm some interesting comments there, thanks guys!
I did have to see a specialist at a private hospital, his job to to assess my condition and prepare a report for the insurance Co.
Part of the money I've been offered includes 10 to 12 physio sessions. IE I pay for them out of the money Im being offered. I don't know how much these sessions cost but I'm guessing I wont have much left from £2100???
I verbally agreed to the figure and was about to send a signed discharge form back to them which effectivly closes the case.

I was at the back of queuing traffic on the M5 and a woman on her mobile (driving a car obviously) ran into the back of me. Didn't think I was injured until the next day when I woke up all sore and aching - had whiplash!
Claimed through my insurance and after turning down £1800 I accepted £2500. I did pay out ~£600 for chiropractic treatment, the receipts being sent off to the innsurance company.
Another accident, I was a rear seat passenger and had 5 broken ribs and a broken sternum, along with other minor injuries and was off work ~3months
After 2 1/2 years I accepted £10,000 after turning down their first offer of £8,000.

i was hit from behind whilst i was waiting to turn right .. this happened about 5 years ago now.
i had numerous visits to a chiropractor.
i got about £2500... which included my visits to the chiropractor.
also was a front seat passenger in my partners car 18 months ago, when he lost control on a bend and the car rolled over...... got a similar amount for that also.
tell you solicitor to refuse the first offer... which any good solicitor should recommend you do anyway... the 3rd party should up the offer by maybe £100-£200.
good luck, and hope you're injuries don't last/affect you for too long ( for your sake.. not the insurance companies !)
